Hans Rudel is pretty cool

Everyone after the war was doing their utmost to distance themselves from Hitler, pretending that they were some sort of silent opposition while this guy gave no fucks and never apologized for anything.

The interesting thing was that he was very skiddish as a kid and as a pilot he was a slow learner, he was at first relegated to rear duty and had to be retrained. He also never drank alcohol, just milk apparently.

Rommel was a great soldier and commander, but ultimately just a soldier, and quite overrated due to the Brits glorifying him.

Rudel was a real warrior like no other, who fought with incomparable conviction, accomplished gigantic military feats as a Stuka pilot, and who kept fighting for his fatherland even after the war was lost (he joined the Deutsche Reichspartei, German Reich Party after the war).

I have actually read his book and he is without doubt one of the most fascinating men and soldiers in history.

Both Rommel and Rudel were great, though in different ways. Rommel was a great commander, Rudel was a great soldier. Though usually, while commanders get more praise in history books, but it's the ordinary heroes like Rudel that can become legends.

Rommel an hero'd after the failed attempt of assassination on Hitler, but I'd say he did it because he knew the war is lost, and hoped to at least salvage the situation partially instead of letting Hitler go to the end. Especially since we know US nuked Japan, and it as well could have been Germany…

Rommel participating in the anti-Hitler conspiracy is a myth. He was an apolitical soldier to the very end. The only thing that's possible is that he knew some of the conspirators and didn't turn them in to the police.

Peter the Great. He was a badass, attempted to modernize his country, had his own club known as "The All-Joking, All-Drunken Synod of Fools and Jesters", with whom he'd go out into the countryside, harass nobles and make them host his parties. He was always fucking with the Church too, mocking them in plays. I could go on, this man gave zero fucks.
