so what if the scanner breaks or I get a cut on my thumb or something.
I mean, they already had facial recognition which sucked ass.
but I doubt I want to keep using windows anyway

By the end of the decade there will be no reason to ever use window ever again.
>Linux is free and has the same basic productivity tools as windows (Microsoft Office 2003 equivalent in Libre Office) bundled with it
>Distributions are at least as stable as Windows if not more
>Unix standard is shared by Mac and Linux
>Much better security systems
>Servers all already run on it
>Valve/Steam is pushing Linux hard - porting all of their own games to it and releasing a gaming platform with that as its OS basis
>Other video game companies increasingly releasing Linux versions of their games
>Valve releasing modern/industry leading game development tools for free like Source 2, and GL Next
>Next generation of CS/Engineering students are learning exclusively in Unix environments
This doesn't mean it will go away of course, only that if you use it, you will be a fucking idiot.

I work in an airport and the biometrics systems are horrid once you reach a certain age for fingerprint readers, they simply cannot use them as their fingerprint is too worn to register. The eye scanners one the other hand work so and so because people have contact lenses or glasses and it's very hard for the machine to register their eyes. These are high end machines too that you wouldn't be able to pick up in a best buy.
Biometrics are stupid and edgy passwords work just fine, FBI stop tracking me ty

Okay. So how are they going to work with desktops that don't have cameras, scanners, or all that extra biometric bullshit?
If you tell me they're going to put it in every case, I'm using my Win7 desktop for the rest of my (probably short) life.

>>660This. I installed windows on my desktop yesterday and everything worked perfectly except one thing: my games. I don't use Steam and most of my games are simple and old. It's probably because my hardware doesn't have and good free drivers. It's a shame, I want to get off Windows badly. I use Cygwin, a VPS, and my laptop runs Linux. There's just one last piece to make the plunge.

When they announced they'd provide win10 for free, I wondered what they were trying to push on the consumer so hard. I guess this is it, or at least part of it. They want biometric data of anyone who uses a Windows computer.

Yeah nah, a computer doesn't need to know my fingerprints or what my eyes look like. And remembering passwords ain't that fucking hard.
Yet normies will still eat this shit up, especially since it's going to be free. 1984/Brave New World, here we come!

Honestly, everyone should be trying out Linux right now in a VM if they haven't used it before. They even have some pleb distros like Linux Mint and Ubuntu to help out new fags.
And I say this as a person who used to be a really huge Winfag Shill.

I finally gave Mint a shot as babby's first distro, and so far I only boot into Windows to occasionally play games that aren't available on Linux, or don't work in VMs. It's pretty easy to use, includes useful software out of the box, and I didn't even need to fuck around with drivers like I did with Windows on the exact same hardware.
I don't want to get into a habit of distro hopping, but now it's tempting to see how well other distros may suit me once I'm more familiar with Linux.

One problem with this is that it uses asymmetric encryption with the private key being built into the hardware, using your fingerprint/face scan to unlock it. The problem with this is that Microsoft therefore also has all of the private keys which are being used as part of people's passwords. Microsoft will essentially have everyone's passwords saved in their servers which would at any point be handed over to law enforcement or anyone who asks

>no reason to use windows
>if you don't play videogames.
Here one big reason:
http://www.n-trig.com/downloads-drivers/
…pressure-sensitive touch screens for artists. No Linux drivers. Free software will always be one important step behind paid software.
Another reason is lack of suport for Linux users. "Community support" is like the blind leading the blind, and they are volunteers anyway, so you are supposed to be grateful even when they don't do shit, nobody is accountable for anything and whether you get help depends on luck and whether people like you. I still haven't found anybody to explain to me why my CentOS installation had no Internet. My post about it on StackExchange has 12 views after 2 years. I didn't find help even despite wanting to pay money. So unlike Microsoft. So much about "free".
I hate Linux engineers for making Linux usable only to Linux engineers. They just sell a more insidious, more passable form of control as "freedom".
It's almost as if commercial competitors bribe free software developers to keep free software unworkable.
The only thing I dislike about paid software is prevalent lack of transparency and portability (vendor lock-ins).
No.751
Free software is never innovative, it's always a copy of commercial solutions.
The "community" always waits for corporations to make the first step, then rips it off. If everything depended on "community", we would still live in caves.

The free software movement was born out of liberal, communist and Jewish ideas.
So why are nazis such enthusiasts of free software?
Because nazis are just as bad liars as liberals.
