>>195GETS: RULES AND GUIDELINESv2.0
The sport of stealing GETs is a time-honored /sp/ tradition. It is a sport that requires timing, intuitiveness, strategy, coordination, and even a bit of luck.
It is a simple sport to play, but there are rules. The rules are as follows:
RULES- No scripting allowed. All posts must be entered and posted manually.
- A GET must at least be quads.
And that's it! It sounds simple, but there are also many guidelines that should be taken into consideration:
GUIDELINES- Try not to egregiously spam new threads or comments while attempting a GET. Major League GETters should avoid attempting more than 2 posts per GET. Elite players only need 1. This applies to the actual attempts at a GET. Strategic posting to inflate the post count does not apply here.
- While quads can be a GET, it doesn't mean they're all of equal, or any, importance. Any quad GET under 10,000 posts (such as 5555 or 8888), should be viewed as a "babby" GET, which will be synonymous with Minor League GETball (more on this later). However, over 10,000 GETs (10k, 20k, 30k, etc..), even though only quads, are more distinguishable.
- This same principle can be applied to any repeating integers that are greater than quads. For example, 155,555 is not as valuable as a 100,000, even though they are both quints. Likewise, a 1,111,111 GET should not be seen as more valuable than a 1,000,000 GET, even though the former example has a greater amount of repeating numbers, it is not as coveted as the first millionth post on a board.
-Furthermore, numbers like 155,555 or 1,333,333 or 14,444 should not be considered true GETs. Neither should palindrome GETs like 15,833,851 or counting GETs such as 123,456. True GETs are either entirely the same number, or digits followed by at least 4 zeros, such as 70,000, 150,000, or 125,000,000.
- This sport can be played with several members utilizing teamwork, or can be played as a single individual representing a team.
Minor LeagueDubs, trips, and minor quads all belong in the realm of the Minor League. This is a great way for up-and-comers to practice their skill, and if their skill becomes great enough, they may attempt to move up to the Major League.
SportsmanshipIt must be acknowledged that while GETball is a competitive sport, it is all in the name of having fun. As with any competition, there are winners and losers. But no matter the outcome of the match, do try to conduct yourself in a professional and proper manner, as a true sportsman should. Do not be like the Seahawks and chimp out when you are unable to handle defeat. Conversely, while victory does come with boasting rights, do not overdo your bragging. When competition is fierce, the joy of victory can be exuberant, but a true sportsman knows when to be humble.
