/svidya/ made in reaction to shit moderation and gradually degrading post quality
/v/irgins are leaving /v/ entirely or are now browsing /svidya/ in tandem in response to the current /v/ administration, the ever growing amount of newfags in /v/, and the return of cancerous elements. Many in /svidya/ lament September's state of /v/ and would like to return to that.
In 4 days have reached 1000 posts and hover at around 100 unique IPs. As of March 2nd.
Developing story.
/v/ mods are now being more active in moderation for the first time, but are still overrun by the amount of shitposting they have allowed to grow in their complacency or outright faggotry in some cases. This may or may not be a direct response to /svidya/'s existence.
What does /newspaper/ think?

I think it's funny that people have nostalgia over September on 8chan, because it was one of the worst times to be on /v/ to actually talk about video games. Before the "no meta stuff" rule was implemented, about 75% of the catalog back then was "I got banned from 4chan and now I'm here" and 20% the kind of "shitposting" that people complain about to this day, all at around 1500 posts per hour. The volunteers were all sharing the same owner account since Fredrick had yet to implement volunteer accounts, so there was no accountability, and niko and another were fucking around with the CSS and wordfilters every day (both were removed later on). The atmosphere of the board was closer to /b/ than /v/, which is fine, but not for any kind of talk about video games. Late september to mid october was mostly chaos. I remember it well because I volunteer for /v/.
As for /svidya/, I hope it does well and becomes it's own thing. /v/ is a bit cursed in that aspect, since it will never escape the unattainable ideal of what "old /v/" was like (usually imagined by people who weren't around for it.) Right now, it doesn't seem to be the kind of place I would post in since I'm strongly against any form of "cornering". That practice is what makes places like reddit or /baphomet/ so thin skinned and uninteresting. Just the threat of potentially being "super downvoted" for your opinion is enough to make me not want to post.
