This board is small enough that we won't delete threads by making another one. So how about one thread for advertising and one for organizing the hoarding? It would make the threads more organized this way.

We need to advertise to other anime boards such as /am/, anyone up for it?

Also, flags. ehuhuehuehe

As posted on /a/, the teams would follow eras. This would only apply for anime/manga/eroge; although I think /tv/ and /co/ would find this way useful as well.

>Team 0079: 70s anime - original Gundam, the Mazinger series, Ginguiser, Aim for the Ace, are just the famous examples of what was around that era

>Team 0083. your task is to find all the anime that you can find, from 1980 to 1985. Macross, VOTOMS, Urusei Yatsura, Dougram and Ideon are only the tip of the iceberg

>Team 0087: your task is to dig out every anime from 1986 to 1989. Good examples are Bubblegum Crisis, Gundam ZZ, and Gall Force, to name a few

>Team 0093: your task is to hoard all the anime from the early 90s era, which would cover 1990-1995. Some few examples would be Tekkaman Blade, Victory Gundam, Sailor Moon, and Cyber Formula

>Team 0096: your tast is to cover what's left of the 90s. You saw a lot of this shit on Toonami, so it shouldn't be hard to find any of these.

>Team 00: you will hunt down every early 2000s (i.e. 2000-2005) anime you can find. Unlike the previous eras, these should not only be easier to find, but also the most numerous

I was also thinking that a separate team (Team F91?) would deal with anything pre-70s, since there's not much material to work with as it is (loss of masters and whatnot).

Repostan' from the /a/ thread regarding criteria of selection:

>We've already decided to save everything we can get.

>Basically, each "decade" team will try to get as much as they can gather from that decade. How do they decide which version to download? Well, assuming we don't have enough people to download a lot of versions of every series, we should aim for complete packages.

That means we'll aim for:

>Dual Audio files. It doesn't matter if YOU don't personally like the ENG audio, some people do. This is an archive, and an extra audio track doesn't take much space.

>Complete series. Someone getting Full Metal Alchemist: Brotherhood should be aiming to get all 64 episodes, AND the Sacred Star of Milos movie, AND the 4 OVAs that go with Brotherhood.

>Good quality for the filesize. We don't need FLAC, we don't need bloated 1080p upscales of an anime that is really just 720p. We want small filesizes for the archive because that way we can hold so much more. I'm not saying get terrible quality watermark covered 360p encodes, but plenty of series have already-made 720p encodes that look and sound great without wasting space. It isn't worth quadrupling the filesize for maybe a 2% increase in video or sound quality, because that means we'll only have 1/4 the amount of torrents.

Extras? Pani Poni Dash is a very bizarre series, with references to other things every other second, literally. My personal copy has Vid-notes, which DO add a lot to this series, since they can explain bizarre references you want to know about, or even tell extra jokes. >This one requires discretion, some series have worthless extras but others have some worthwhile shit.

>Password strength https://xkcd.com/936/

I feel obligated to mention that this is not as secure as it once was due to the rise of dictionary attacks, so use 8-10 words in your password via diceware.

http://world.std.com/~reinhold/diceware.html

Alternatively, use a password manager like KeypassX and generate a random password from there so you don't have to memorize it.
