The United States said Friday it is withdrawing more than half the personnel from its embassy in Cuba in response to mysterious attacks that have sickened diplomatic staffers, in a new blow to fragile relations between the former Cold War foes.

In announcing the move, Secretary of State Rex Tillerson said Washington would maintain relations with Havana – which were only fully restored in 2015, and which have deteriorated since President Donald Trump took office in January.

I doubt the Cubans are actually responsible for this mysterious noise, I can't imagine what they could possibly gain from it.

At the worst case scenario an American ambassador suffers from hearing damage and the Americans send someone to replace them, what purpose would that serve for the Cubans? It's just too petty for them to do something so outrageous and injure people without getting something out of it.

It seems more likely to me that whoever planted these sound devices probably wanted to damage Cuban-American relations.

Phantom sounds and brain damage, but what do the articles never mention? Microwaves. "Sonic Weapon" my ass.
