Can we get a way to have boards start threads at 1 instead of whatever the thread number is?

would be a nice option for the site owner to set, not everyone wants to make a western-style imageboard

I've discussed it with copypaste before. It's a very difficult proposition. I'm not exactly sure how much work would be involved, but it's complicated enough that we can't do it before v1.0.0

I'm considering dumping vichan for my small site and this feature would be really nice. I have considered writing something to replace it myself but I don't know how to actually turn off the counting rather than just hide it.
Maybe you could make it like post IDs where clicking on the post number (1-1000) shows the overall post number to the side

Do you actually run a small Japanese imageboard, or are you just using a proxy or some shit?
I'll add thread post numbers to the request list, but again, no promises in terms of when it comes out.

This isn't a proxy if that's what you're asking. I'd rather not post my site here because of a skittish userbase that doesn't handle an outsider well.
I am also curious about implementing my own language captcha. How feasible would this be with next at the moment?

How spooky! People can reference my code now.
He's right. I built that with the intention of allowing Hiragana specifically to work as a captcha input. I never tested it, but if you supply your own Japanese font and set the charset to be the Japanese alphabet it will theoretically handle ASCII input.

This will accept kanji too then?

If it's set up correctly it should. You could probably reduce the character count to 2 and use only Kanji and have it be ultra secure.
I'll run a test. Give me a sec.

I've successfully produced a multibyte character captcha. It validates and everything. Requires a small change to the captcha but that's fine (hopefully).
The font used for this is the OTF Noto type.
