now if you're actually considering this reddit-esque sidebar idea, then i thought i'd take a quick shot at fixing some of
the issues i had with what you presented in the op
one of the central issues with reddits sidebar is that when you have a sidebar filled with information it tends to exceed the page content and go much further beyond it
as is shown in the included pic of coontown, so thats why i decided to make the sidebar a completely separate frame from the rest of the content, i feel that would fix that issue.
as for the issues with what you presented i feel that it'd be better if sidebar info was always in the users field of vision, because if not then you'd have the issue of one part
of a users screen completely blank since they'll be scrolling down through the index. i also feel what you presented doesn't take into account the possibility of a user selecting
"all" to enable infinite scroll, having the sidebar be its own individual frame also fixes that issue.
