I'm looking for translators to do work within the next month or two. Your job will be to translate the entire application into a second language, using the Laravel language system.

The source language files can be found here.

https://github.com/infinity-next/infinity-next/tree/master/resources/lang/en

I will write up extensive, clear documentation on how translation works when it comes time to do it, but for the most part, you are just copying /en/ to another 2 letter language code (/ar/ for Arabic, /sp/ for Spanish, etc) and then changing the right-hand assignment, like this:

/en/greetings.php

return [
"hello" => "Hello!",
"whatsup" => "{0,1}Whats up, dude?|[2,Inf]What's up, guys?",
"address" => "Welcome back, :name.",
];

/sp/greetings.php

return [
"hello" => "¡Hola!",
"whatsup" => "{0,1}¿Que pasa, amigo?|[2,Inf]¿Que pasa, amigos?",
"address" => "Bienvenido, :name.",
];

With this codex, any time I call for a translation, I can get a reliable definition. In a template, these examples would look like:

trans('greetings.hello')
trans_choice('greetings.whatsup', $numberOfPeople)
trans('greetings.address', [ "name" => $nameOfPerson"])

Super easy to do, anyone can do it. Hopefully.

If you're interested, I'm looking for almost every language. Please email me at josh@infinitydev.org so I know how to reach you.

I speak german and english fluently but I'm not sure I understand what I'm supposed to do. Is any programming knowledge required or do I simply replace words with the german equivalents?

Also, assuming I'm joining the project, is it better to translate the words as direct as possible or with some variation but sounding nicer?

No, I promise, it's very easy to translate. You don't need to know how to program, I'll write proper documentation on doing the work when the time comes.

If you're interested, email me and I'll add you to the list. If you have any issues translating or working out what you're supposed to do, I'll help you out, you won't be on your own.

If that's the case, I'll have enough free time to do it. Taking the productivity pill soon.

Get a haircut while you're at it.

I can do the polish translation. I'll make it a pull request when it's ready.

I would strongly suggest waiting because I am ...

1) Not done implementing all the language on the site.

2) Will be reorganizing some things and your translations may be lost or encumber my efforts.

Please email me at josh@infinitydev.org and I will contact you when it's appropriate to do work. Thanks for the interest.

I can translate in Romanian, however I doubt anyone is interested in such a language.

I am interested in every language. Shoot me an email. If you're willing to give me your time for free, I am willing to host a translation for your language.

nathan_tiburcio@yahoo.com

This is an email I created for a fake Facebook account that I had to make

I am somewhat busy with college but I think I can translate whatever you need translated, it shouldn't take all that much time and I doubt my language is all that important, so there is no reason to hurry.

So basically I should download the git project, add a new folder with the path .../lang/ro copy and paste all the files and rewrite all the string attributes with a Romanian translation, then put a merge request, right?

Also should the files be kept with their original, English name(board.php, etc)?

Also in the log.php file there is this line of code:

'local' => "Banned <span class=\"ip\">:ip</span> from /:board_uri:/ for :time. Reason: \"<em class=\"ban-reason\">:justification</em>\".",

I presume that I have to translate the words "Banned" and "Reason", however the justifications will be in English, since I can't see a justification.php file to translate, or is there something that I am missing?

yo, I heard you liked supporting internationalization, what do you think of this video?

Laravel can handle every single thing this video mentions. That's the advantage of a framework. They've gone through all of this already, especially the stuff about pluralization. I've built the layout with eventual RTL in mind and my elements are designed to be flexible in width.

The actual challenge here comes from handling user created text. I'll need to kidnap someone who speaks Arabic, maybe someone from a lesser-known southern Arabian country who wants to make an Arabic imageboard, and deal with that. Most of my problems will come from how the Arabic language deals with a mixture of LTR and RTL text in user-generated content.

German Translator here, can you give us a date of when the translation can start?

c3c88a No.1738

>>1733

I'm still writing big features with lots of language to them so I'm reluctant to tell people to start translating because I may end up having to move language or add a bunch more.

It'll probably have to wait until after 8chan is using it to be honest.
