Perhaps you're right but I feel like it would be a good means of combating board sliding on faster boards as well.
Maybe some of you B.O.s love to micromanage all of your users posts and threads but I don't. In particular I don't want to have to bump lock somebody else's thread because some eccentric takes a shine to it and starts bumping it redundantly every 3 hours or something. Why should I bump lock an innocent OP's thread, making it so I'm officially ending the thread even for anyone else that may want to contribute to it later, because of someone else's poor behavior?
I also don't think it's necessarily behavior worth banning someone over when it's kind of a gray area. Hands off moderation supplemented with sweeping reforms is best in most instances I feel.
8chan's policy of allowing tor and proxies also means I have to be as diplomatic as possible with my users, particularly the retarded ones, or I stand the chance of exacerbating things to a level that I'm not able to handle.
