000000 No.3462

no board announcements

no Hide Flag checkbox

no dice rolling ? (should go back to the email field)

no catalog reply/image/page stats

no catalog search or regular search (not sure how search will be implemented, a box should be on the front page or in the topbar)

no board pages

no automatic youtube embedding (should be optional like now)

no spam settings

no pale moon

what else?

469153 No.3466

image hover

thread watcher

user CSS

But presumably this is mostly just stuff temporarily lost until Josh or someone else re-implements it. Things likely to be lost long-term:

- Pale Moon support. Can be fixed user-side for now by disabling MutationObserver via userscript. But it's only a matter of time until something else breaks.

- User JS. This aggravates security breaches and should not have been added in the first place. Use Greasemonkey/Tampermonkey instead.

000000 No.3467

yeah I meant features lost upon switching, but hopefully not permanently

features which should hold some priority moving forward

Why would Josh release software without even bothering to implement all the features users want first? Seriously, I can't even hide threads in Infinity Next.

it is for over 90% of the users.

meta threads attract meta posters who don't necessarily represent how the majority feel.

I don't notice performance problems on the (small) boards I use

on topic, I don't think Click to Expand / Expand All Images were implemented yet

>reply/image/page stats

Need those stats at the bottom right of opened thread pages too, like 1st pic related (also needs the User ID count when applicable)

couple more things to reach feature parity, in addition to what's been listed in >>3462, >>3466, >>3468 and >>3489:

• Ability to hover over the User ID and see how many posts the anon has in the thread, ability to click on the User ID and have all their posts highlighted

• Ability to highlight text, click on the post number and have the highlighted text automatically pasted into the Post Box for easy quoting

• Having the post-number-quote thing (eg ' >>3489 ' ) appear directly after the cursor in the Post Box rather than at the end of the inputted text when you click on a post's post number

• Cyclical threads - pretty sure this is being worked on now

• Oekaki - Hotwheels is working on it I think (?)

• Post inlining - 2nd file related (purely to demonstrate, I've also included how AppchanX tackles post inlining at the end of the video, having the Post's backlink change in color to indicate when it has been clicked helps significantly with figuring out which replies have been inlined)

• Attachment deleting (and spoilering and editing by Volunteers and BOs)

• Some Catalog functions:

• Catalog sorting (current options are: "Bump order", "Creation date", "Reply count" and "Random", defaults to "Bump Order")

• Image size changing (current options are: "Very small", "Small", "Medium" and "Large", defaults to "Small")

• Board Favorites system - might be being worked on, I think Infinity Next had the option to favorite boards, but I don't recall seeing them appear on the Top Bar when favorited

• The option to download a file with the unix timestamp filename or the original filename, 3rd pic related

• Additionally, please remove the function that replaces spaces ' 's with '+'s, unless you have already done so.

• Option to hide locked threads, hide images etc. that are currently available in the [Options] menu, 4th pic related.

• Gallery mode? (I haven't checked for it so I'm not sure if it's already implemented, but it's a feature someone paid for via Bounty Source if I recall correctly?)

• Backup email section on the User Panel, 5th pic related (I don't recall seeing one when I last checked, useful for when you lose your password)

• Are fileboards (like on >>>/file/ ) implemented?

• (lower priority) LaTeX? It's been a long time since we last had a update on its status, the last I heard Hotwheels was going to write up a bug report for MathJax but that was nearly a half year ago:

https://groups.google.com/forum/#!topic/mathjax-users/S7Fu7ZaEsVg

https://github.com/Khan/KaTeX/issues/109#issuecomment-119953548

https://8ch.net/_g/1063.txt

>I still have to write a full bug report to the MathJax ML of the browser-crashing issue and see what they say about it.

It's not a feature that 8chan currently has anymore, but it was supported in the past, it's a great feature to have and I'd like to see it return fixed up one day.

at the time of this post, beta.8ch.net is showing 503 errors and infinitydev.org is offline showing a cloudflare page, so it is a bit tricky to ascertain the missing feature situation, most of the stuff listed so far has been from how I remember Infinity Next on ~18-19th Dec

e8b6f9 No.3491

>>3482

8chan was "fine" up until HW suddenly told everyone "it's about to die" when he couldn't fix a major bug. Since then Infinity has run like shit (like it did up until say March of this year anyways) but has not gotten markedly worse since Next was announced. So nah that's a shit non-answer.

>>3483

But you, dear sycophant, you know exactly how "over 90%" of 8chan's users feel. Thanks for being the voice of the people.

469153 No.3493

>>3482

Speaking of thread hiding, what do you think of server-side thread hiding (using cookies)? Would it be too expensive?

75f199 No.3494

>>3491

>8chan was "fine" up until HW suddenly told everyone "it's about to die"

8chan has had posting issues ever since I came here 1 year ago.

>dear sycophant

I don't see the point of these meta slapfights, all I want is a working site over 90% of the users would agree with me

81c3ff No.3495

>>3491

lmfao how do you fucking morons actually spew out this garbage? do you believe it or is it just some kind of joke i'm not in on?

dude, freech runs a version of tinyboard before czaks or copypaste did any work on it and it still has updating problems because their shared host's disk I/O is so abysmal. this is a fundamental problem with tinyboard software.

>>3462

I hope dice rolling comes back. Me and some friends were going to run a game but wanted to use the image board format over roll20 and their inability to embed images. I came here, made a board, and then everything died and I found out about this whole next thing.

It's kill before we could even start. RIP

469153 No.3506

>>3503

Dice rolling should be a top priority. I'd make a pull request, but I think we'd want to add a table or column in the database to store the roll results (otherwise the rolls would get messed up when someone edits a post), and I'm not sure I'd want to fuck with it at that level yet.

>>3462

>no dice rolling ? (should go back to the email field)

An alternative would be to put it in the comment as part of the markup, which would allow multiple dice rolls per post. What do you think about that?

That shit only works for me like 20% of the time in FF. Wuzzupwiddat?

aeb9b4 No.3521

>>3520

It only works on some boards like /v/ and /pol/, it breaks on other boards because they're on another server or something, very old 8chan bug.

a836e7 No.3525

>>3462

We're missing the favorites and top 25 boards list that's thin (so it doesn't waste any vertical space) and is fixed to the top of the screen (so that you don't have to scroll all the way up/down to access it).

There's one at the bottom of the page in Infinity Next at the moment, you would probably have to do some dirty CSS hacks to get it to be just like our current fixed nav bar is.

4ce191 No.3529

>>3525

The top boards already have a thin bar, you just need to make it visible with CSS because it's hidden by default.

Not missing features, but rather some really old feature requests from the 1st /operate/ Infinity Next QnAs back in May that I kept a note of:

https://archive.is/wmYNv#selection-6343.0-6379.0 <-- 1st pic related, cannot edit post attachments yet

https://archive.is/wmYNv#selection-8909.0-8945.0 <-- already being done? Haven't properly tested em out yet

https://archive.is/wmYNv#selection-20745.0-20781.0 <-- 2nd pic related, no search and filter system on board logs yet

I'd just like to know if these are still on the Todo List

0928fb No.3699

So if these are to be lost on migration, what's the priority they will be added back in?

Board pages, board announcements, and thread reply/image/page stats are big on my list. If we're thinking about the same thing with those terms.

I've seen more functional websites get shat out by freelance indians within a week.

It's a waiting game to get those implemented if this software ever actually gets off the ground.
