Webm uploading and thumbnailing added. I'm going to add JavaScript to handle inline streaming tomorrow.

See:

Thanks for the support all. <3

Size limit, Josh. Fuck are you doing?

>>838

I can make the limit whatever I want. I had to raise it for that video.

Rad, do you have an idea for what the set file size limit will be or is it just going to be the same at 8mb?

Also an estimate on when audio file support will be in?

6e9fcb No.853

>>852

Whatever copypaste sets it to be. I won't cap it on the software. I think he went with 8mb because 8chan.

Audio support soon, but I have a lot of love for music so I'm going to do that super well.

i'll just leave this here for others to read.

2015-09-08 13:54:43 __uguu__ n-tech: given the patch is reviewed by others and provides meaningful perf boosts will you take it?
2015-09-08 13:55:09 n-tech I still dont know what you intend on doing.
2015-09-08 13:55:10 __uguu__ all i want to do is be able to contribute
2015-09-08 13:55:23 n-tech Are you going to offload work into memcached? Are you writing nginx configuration files? What is the plan?
2015-09-08 13:55:31 n-tech What are you optimizing?
2015-09-08 13:55:51 __uguu__ i plan on having static files be served by the webserver this is the only sane thing you can do in this case\
2015-09-08 13:56:07 __uguu__ this means any content that doesn
2015-09-08 13:56:11 __uguu__ this means any content that doesn't change
2015-09-08 13:56:32 n-tech We've been over this. The issue is the files are stored hashed, but the details are in the db
2015-09-08 13:56:33 __uguu__ i.e. images and other uploads
2015-09-08 13:56:47 __uguu__ you can hash them but you can still serve them via a webserver
2015-09-08 13:56:48 n-tech You can't figure out a way to set mimetype in nginx so you have to edit how uploads are done
2015-09-08 13:57:00 __uguu__ i can
2015-09-08 13:57:08 __uguu__ you just suck at it
2015-09-08 13:57:15 n-tech No, we had this discussion already
2015-09-08 13:57:21 n-tech That's why I rejected your original pull request
2015-09-08 13:57:27 n-tech You wanted to change the storage mechanism
2015-09-08 13:57:40 __uguu__ to append a file extension is that so bad?
2015-09-08 13:58:12 n-tech I really don't like the idea
2015-09-08 13:58:18 __uguu__ wow this project is doomed
2015-09-08 13:58:37 n-tech If you insist.
2015-09-08 13:59:18 __uguu__ i am giving to you on a silver platter, meaningful improvements
2015-09-08 13:59:30 __uguu__ "i really don't like the idea" is your response
2015-09-08 13:59:45 __uguu__ okay have fun having no contributors
2015-09-08 13:59:46 n-tech What is the point of storing files by fucking MD5 if you're going to add the file extension?
2015-09-08 14:00:03 __uguu__ so you can serve them statically and not have to spawn a fucking php process
2015-09-08 14:00:28 n-tech Why can't you do that with how the URL is formatted already? What the fuck does the extension do?
2015-09-08 14:00:33 n-tech http://infinitydev.org/test/file/4d95b3b0377c82aba399a07db6087fb6/1440702842449.webm
2015-09-08 14:00:37 __uguu__ okay yeh i'm done

nice meme

<__uguu__> one solution that is pretty obvious is serving it statically via the webserver...
<__uguu__> is pretty fast that way
<n-tech> If you can find a way to do that without changing the naming convention, do it.
<__uguu__> js
<__uguu__> can i add a query parameter?
<n-tech> like, a GET?
<__uguu__> http://infinitydev.org/test/file/4d95b3b0377c82aba399a07db6087fb6/1440702842449.webm becomes http://infinitydev.org/test/file/4d95b3b0377c82aba399a07db6087fb6/1440702842449?webm
<n-tech> Why isn't it possible to use the filename at the tail end to determine mimetype?
<__uguu__> actually you're right, it wouldn't matter
<n-tech> I mean I'm a big dummy but surely
<n-tech> you can just take the /filename.ext
<n-tech> and get the webserver to serve a file with that right?
<__uguu__> i could do some rewrite rules possibly
<n-tech> I can't imagine it being more complicated than two tokens in a regex
<__uguu__> indeed
<n-tech> I mean if you can make it so that
<n-tech> you take a little snippet of code
<n-tech> and plug it into the webserver to catch the same route that the php router uses
<n-tech> I would supply that in documentation
<n-tech> because that's a good solution

...

<__uguu__> aaaanyways
* __uguu__ gets the nginx config

Hey Josh, could you provide a list of all the different file types that are able to be uploaded to infinity next as of now?

Also, how much more stuff you have to work on till this is ready? The user interface parts of it look a lot better now, aside from other necessary pieces of polish that need to be done, mainly with the lack of board list and kinks with the mobile UI.

what happened here? I tried to upload webm

https://infinitydev.org/tech/thread/2#42

the file ending switched to .unknown instead

Wow, that file format is really fucked up. VLC can't even play it. Can you try uploading it to 8ch?

The issue here is that it accepted it at all.

oh ok. I just made that webm with ffmpeg I think, nothing special. and it also plays fine for me locally.

here's a rehost: https://i.pantsu.cat/zxexno.webm but as you can see in >>975 uploading on 8ch seems to work fine (and it also plays in mah ff~)
