You obviously have no faith in the administration or its staff and believe the second they have any increased capacity to stop CP from being uploaded, they will begin to dismantle the freedom of information on the site.
I'm going to make this a long post so I can link to it in the future. Here is why this argument is retarded.
Lets say I upload a picture from a movie. Maybe a really popular screenshot of some famous scene. The MPAA can legally say, "hey! take down that material!", and we may be forced to oblige it. This also goes for things like pornography.
But we won't fuzzy ban it. We will never fuzzy ban it. There is something called Fair Use, and even in America with its retarded and broken copyright laws, Fair Use is reason enough not to fuzzy ban this screenshot.
You can take my screenshot and edit it. Make it funny. Give CIA the Bane mask. Replace CIA with Bane and all of the armed guards with henchmen. Make CIA into Obama. I don't know, who cares. Do whatever you want with it.
'There is no way to make child pornography legal. If you take a picture of a child being raped and give her a Bane mask, it's still fucking child pornography. The same rules do not apply. It's not even in the same universe of law. There is never a "fair use" policy to pictures or video of molestation or exploitation.
The only way you can think that fuzzy banning is a bad idea is if: 1) You have no faith in the administration, or 2) you think CP threads are funny and want to continue risking the site's stability.
Right now, there's probably some hidden board that's nothing but CP. We bust them all the fucking time. People make a new board, upload 100 megabytes of children being raped, and then let it sit up there as they share the URL with their pedophile friends. With this technology, we can ban every single image that shows up when this happens, and continuously make the process more cumbersome for pedophiles until it's not worth the effort. The technology specifically works around edits (like adding black bars to the sides, slightly editing the aspect ratio, color shifting it 1%, etc) so you either have to distort the image until it's not effective sexual stimulation or impossible to recognize, and you have to do it for every single item.
There will still be ways to hash images so that you can upload CP around the system, but that still takes time. The main idea here is to make it time consuming. Make it so that 8ch is not a safe habitat for child pornography, and that there are better and easier targets for this sort of dump.
