So I wonder, how difficult is not fapping for someone who masturbates every day or two, but doesn't watch any porn? I know this is different for everyone, but I'm looking for anecdotal responses anyway. I've gone without for maybe a week maximum, but hearing that people have panic attacks and whatnot is admittedly spooky. So I wonder, is that related to the intense visual stimulation they've become reliant on (video porn?). I've always just closed my eyes and imagined shit, sometimes maybe using a picture or whatever, but I've only watched porn a few times. I'm wondering if that gives me a psychological advantage, and I wonder if any physical withdrawal is a manifestation of stress/psychic shit rather than physiological nonsense.

So tl;dr – how much of the withdrawal from daily masturbation is related to porn addiction

and a side note, my prostate isn't going to get fucked, right? I feel like I should still do it once every few weeks just for that reason.

I'm the opposite, actually. I still have major urges to watch hentai and, while I'm not really proud of it, I still continue to watch it. I'm 37 days fap-free so far though, and I can say for sure it helped made me feel better; more stable and relaxed, psychologically.

I believe the reason people stress the need to avoid porn is that usually masturbation follows it for many men out there. It will also screw with the rewards circuitry in your brain, causing you to feel less attracted to other things in life (ex: real women, working on your projects, etc.) and making you end up easily distracted, much like people with their hand-held social media nowadays. Basically porn is just mental junk food which is best to avoid entirely if you can.

Fapping follows the same reasoning because your brain gets flooded with endorphins after a discharge and, just like a drug, your body will scream to get its fix since it's so used to it. Your symptoms of withdrawal can even be exacerbated if your habit of fapping is tied to certain habits and memory triggers (ex: sitting down at your computer and finding out you're alone…). So yes and no, fapping is not necessarily tied to porn/hentai, but yes it can be a trigger. The biggest trigger, actually.

As for the prostate cancer thing, I don't really believe in it. If that were true, where are all the reports of dead Buddhist monks that died from abstaining? You'd have better chance to avoid cancer by watching what you eat and drink, than from expelling all the man-juice which your body recycles anyway and sends back to the bloodstream along with all the good nutrients (like zinc) that's in it.

The main problem with porn is that it's an addiction: It stimulates your reward system and over time your brain gets a dependency.

There's also an added disadvantage because your sex drive is a part of survival (as is eating), and the post-withdrawal is often reported to be harder than actual drugs. If you've been watching thousands of girls in Internet porn for the past decade, you're going to feel something after abruptly stopping it, similar to the death of a loved one.

Some people get addicted, some people don't. It all depends on how you self-medicate. If you feel slightly depressed and you start using to deal with your problems, you're going to have a harder time. You might experience low energy, lack of motivation, anxiety, because your brain is trained for incorrect dopamine usage. It's funny, but people have been hospitalized for gambling addictions because they built their entire lives around it. The brain easily fucks itself when it comes to extreme levels of reward.

FYI: Fapping is easier to quit than porn. There's no medical evidence that masturbation or sex is bad for you. On the other hand, it's proven that porn causes neurological changes.

Frequent ejaculation is tied to low levels of testosterone, the latter of which you need for motor coordination, reflexes, risk-taking, etc. Also, there exists such a thing as sexual exhaustion in men…
