Nootropics?

Background
>Wait, what am I even doing here?
>What are nootropics?
>Hold the fuck up, am I going to get a brain tumor or start wanting to fuck ponies?

You've made your way to /noot/ probably due to the digital telomeres that 8chan is comprised of and wondered to yourself, "If a brain could wear glasses, would it?" They can, and you should've listened to your mom when she told you not sit so close to the fucking T.V. set because now you have autism.

Whatever exponential factors, be it genetic or environmental, that may come to play with how our brains are wired, we're lucky to be born in a century where we can order powders, pills, and EEG machines that could give our brains some muscle.

Let's get started.

A. On Definitions.

Babby /noot/'s First Stack for under $50

L-Theanine - 100mg
Caffeine - 50mg (100mg if tolerance-reliant)
Fish Oil - 1g DHA + EPA
Piracetam - 1.6g 3x per day
CDP Choline - 300mg

====================

1. L-Theanine and Caffeine are commonly recommended as a great starting point for the world of nootropics.

L-theanine is thought to have both antioxidant and relaxant effects. 1 Some animal studies have shown that the amino acid may also be helpful in lowering lipids in the blood , fighting obesity, and preventing cognitive dysfunction and stroke. When combined with a caffeine source you'll be able to enjoy all the benefits of caffeine without the crash or jitters. An excellent beginning to any stack.

$1.85 - http://www.powdercity.com/products/l-theanine-benefits

And the low contrast hurts to look at, please adjust the color. Also, have you looked at the vertical rhythm? Good contrast and a steady vertical rhythm makes a board optimally readable.

Shill here. Cuckchan has a heart attack whenever someone mentions Doublecuckchan, as we all know. Everything of value is already gone. The other people think may be interested in this place are:

-Longecity

-Erowind

-voat

-reddit

-LessWrong

-420chan

I'll look into 420chan, but the thing is, the problem you describe isn't unique to 8ch. Not only will these people be unwilling to join a dead community, they'll likely be unable (we're used to *chan's minimalistic style, other ), not to mention our site's rep probably proceeds us (a third of the communities I mentioned are a large amount of sjws, and no one likes pedophiles), there was another point I was gonna put here, but I forgot.

Communities get popular for a reason. For this place to attract activity, it needs to have something no one else has. What's that's gonna be is for you to decide.

Post your modafinil, nootropic experiences here!

Sharing your thoughts on how your current curriculum of self-medication/therapy is key to the success of /noot/'s community.

At the end of the day, this board is intended for self-improvement and nootropics is just one facet of that commitment, but an increasingly important one. The tools at your disposal to accomplish your dreams are vast, and this board wants you to take advantage of those tools.

Anti-inflammatory. Go with a butter source instead of cream. This, of course, is after you wean off from having coffee and get rid of your tolerance for a few weeks.

I would be personally interested in hearing of anyone with ADHD-PI/SCT (primarily inattentive/sluggish cognitive tempo) and what they're currently doing to treat it. What I've noticed across all accounts, including mine, is that we're non-responders to traditional stimulants due to a primary disturbance in the striatum/cortex. Atomoxetine, modafinil, memantine, have been matched with SCT/PI sufferers with nominal effects. I'm wondering what, if anything, have they done for their subtype?

Nootropic experiences: Cerebrolysin is the best I have tried. Followed by NSI-189. Bacopa seems like the best to supplement over a lifetime. I have tried most of the racetams. I find oxi and phenyl addicting, and noopept the best for memory. Aniracetam and colu are comparable to each other and are good for anxiety. Over all, general health supplements have given me the biggest energy boost, antidepressant action, and focus. I will outline these below.

Most important shit to take IMO/IME:
multivitamin
fish oil
D-3
magnesium
creatine
taurine
ALCAR
curcumin (turmeric)
bacopa
ashwaghanda

all of these are dirt cheap. Take this stack first and then add in more experimental stuff like racetams and all those other goodies they talk about over on Longecity. Oh and the best reference I have found is Examine.com enjoy.

Where do you even get NSI-89? No public vendors that I'm aware of carry it - not sure that I'd hear about it either way, given that there is a patent for NSI-89 and any vendor that does carry it are being C&D'd.

Have you taken the brown pill yet, mateys?

it's a tough pill to swallow! The brown pill was founded in 1999 by Sir Reginald Brownpill, who presents and narrates the attached video.

Forget red and blue pills, brown pills are the way of the future.

Video related. Please leave your questions, comments, and concerns below about this radical new paradigm of thinking!f

Just how much of an edge can nootropics give you?

On leddit, /r/nootropics, they're all like "diet, exercise and sleep are the best nootropics!" but don't give any details.

Whats the best diet? Whats the best exercise? What best way to sleep, best time to sleep from and to, how long, on your right side, left side, lying down?

>best diet
Try Ray Peat diet. Fruit+red meat(lamb, beef)+dairy+seafood(cod, sole, oyster, mussels, lobster, crab). Vegetables are good if cooked well. Cook food in coconut, macadamia oil, ghee/butter or lamb/beef tallow. Avoid PUFA oils.
Legumes and grains are irrelevant to a healthy diet, the nutrients and vitamins offered by them can very easily be gained in higher quantity from other food.

Non-ruminant meats (chicken, pork, turkey, duck), nuts and high-fat fish (salmon, tuna, mackeral) are ok in moderation.
>exercise
I say lifting+sprinting. Crossfit is the road to snap city and endurance cardio is counterproductive if you lift.
Lifting gives you dat muscle and has all around proven benefits, sprinting is good for the central nervous system, legs, good cardio and feels great.
But really the best exercise is anything you'll stick to over the long term.
For lifting routine, a mixture of weight+bodyweight exercises is the best IMO and stretching is essential.
>sleep
I suggest 10pm-7am but really anything from 7-9 hours if fine. Beware below or above that, you're getting into sleep deprivation and oversleeping.

Sleeping on back, left side or right side is fine. Sleeping on stomach is bad, it obstructs your breathing and leads to cramps.

Longecity may have the deluded pseudo-intellectual fanaticism that you'd find in many places on the internet, but also like many places on the internet that have discussions of this nature, there are diamonds in the rough. This place is no exception. It takes time to find the great threads in Longecity, but the few great ones that there are have brought light to many interesting and tried supplementation/experimentation among its users, that they're usually offhandedly recommended to newcomers and experts alike outside Longecity. I definitely enjoy going Longecity over Reddit, no question there. Also, if you're interested in just hearing about the anecdotes without the mental gymnastics going on in Longecity, then go to Erowid.

>mediterranean diet

>myth
I haven't heard of Ray Peat or the clinical data on any other diet that wasn’t the mediterranean diet. if there is any, so I'll just defend that there's evidence that shows eating a mediterranean diet, which would primarily consist of plant-based foods, is a step in the right direction for anyone wanting to try a diet. Much like the whole paleo-diet (which I initially thought was a good idea, until reading more about ketogenesis), I'm confused of your claim that it's a myth while mentioning a diet such as the Ray Peat diet. I wouldn’t mind being proved that it is worthwhile and that the Mediterranean diet is a myth, of course.

>sleep deprivation

There's no statistical or health-related reason that has determined the need for us to sleep for more than 6.5 hours a day. Any sleep routine your body acclimates to the amount of sleep debt is owed. No human body will oversleep (10+ hours) if there is no sleep debt owed. There have been studies that monitored test subjects' brainwaves after putting them through rigorous solitary confined cubicles, deprived of any light, that shows that the average mean of hours slept after the initial trials (which were 16 hours of sleep the first days) evened out to be an average that was half of that, 8 hours. Their cognition markedly approved when reaching peak sleeping hours.

Here's a study explaining that 6.5 hours is the perfect amount of sleep needed for a person to lower their risk of cancer and reap numerous other health benefits.
