The purpose of this board is to discuss nutrition and diets.
Everybody is welcome from keto to vegan and even more niche diets.

Feel free to post studies, opinions, questions, ask for advice, whatever.

No censorship apart from banning blatant and persistent shitposters.

Discuss a Peatarian diet ITT

The diet is high-carb, high-protein and low-fat.

>Carbohydrates

Best from fruits, fruit juice and honey. White sugar is a last resort as it's devoid of nutrients. Potatoes are also a great source of carbs, very nutrient-rich.

>Protein

Should be from mostly dairy, some from eggs (2 a day), some from meat (100g cooked weight) and seafood.

>Fat

Should be almost all saturated and monounsaturated, polyunsaturated fat should not exceed 4g per 2000 calories. Don't exceed 35ish% of your diets calories as fat, 80g~ is a good amount.

How can I deal with over eating? I went through a phase of my life where I was a total fool and ate 1 meal a day and ate till I couldn't even breath.

I now find it really hard to know what a normal amount of food is per meal and even per day.

Hello, /nutrition/. I just wanted to let you know that I'm the new board owner of >>>/kind/, and I'd appreciate it if you'd take the time to drop in and say hello. It's not really devoted to the discussion of topics pertaining to nutrition, but I think kindness is or should be a virtue valued by all, irrespective of our differences!

Tell us about your day: >>>/kind/346

I go to wholefoods or some other place, mostly opportunistic.

things like:

>oats

>beans

>seeds

>peas

>carrots

>lentils

all organic are cheapest. if it costs too much, don't support it.

as for meat, milk, eggs, cheese, butter, etc:

the conditions the animals live in and what they are fed, injected with means bad in and bad out.

also orange juice and juices in general have most of their fiber removed from them, then they are pasteurized and sit in containers.

you end up with some vitamin C, and a huge dose of sugar. just eat oranges.

I stick to raw nuts and seeds, raw cold pressed organic extra virgin olive and coconut oils for fats.

Recently started supplementing with pic related, Concentrace.
I take 40 drops a day in water, 20 drops in a cup of water twice a day. It makes the water taste really good. Kind of creamy, almost "milky", reminiscent of the mouth feel of coconut water.

Any opinions on mineral supplements or deficiencies? I'll try to post some research about this later.

thanks friend

here is information about the op source

How do you make ConcenTrace®?

ConcenTrace® isn't actually something we make. It's an amazing complex of over 72 naturally occurring ionic trace minerals that has been made by Mother Nature. For thousands of years, every sprouting seed and towering tree has helped dissolve minerals, raising them from deep within the soil to the surface, where they are easily washed away. But they don't just wash away. They are carried in the rivers and streams into oceans and seas like the Great Salt Lake (GSL) in Utah, USA. But the GSL is unique because it has no outlets and is considered an inland sea. Therefore, the GSL is rich in minerals that have been deposited there over these thousands of years.

well the way they make it seem with their description makes it sound very nice and inviting, yet I have no idea legally in all truth for sure what that exactly translates to.

to be fair, I eat pink himalayan salt which has alot of dissolved minerals that happened in nature over several million years, but do I know for sure if my body absorbs all those minerals or just gets rid of them because of them not being bioavaiable or not?

I would like to think that it is much healthier than normal salt full of other additives, yet I can't be 100% for sure that I'm getting that much extra from it. I'm very hopeful, yet I'm doing it mostly for the flavor and to avoid more human processed salt.

so eh? being fair and honest. that's my sense of it.

first of all, look up dental and skeletal fluorosis.

next, understand that the amount of fluoride in toothpaste is beyond retarded. you can rinse several times but you still get a huge amount of exposure through absorption, and inevitably swallow much more through that method than you would through drinking an entire gallon of city water.

What are your thoughts on organic or not? Does it matter? Do you know the dirty dozen?

506d84 No.55

They still use pesticides, just "organic" pesticides which are usually just as if not more harmful.

The cost is also really high, in terms of cost/benefit, buying organic fruits/veges is very low down the list on cost/health benefits.

c032ff No.56

All other things being equal, organic is better. However it's better to eat the right foods in 'conventional' form than the wrong foods in organic form. Pesticides or hormones will kill you a lot slower than malnutrition will.

34099e No.72

>>53

I avoid any and all food that isn't organic, however organic food is really expensive if you don't know how to look for it. I'm grateful that I know enough about nutrition that I can survive as a vegan on organic food only, but I see other people struggling when they try to find good food at fair prices.

when I walk into wholefoods I search like crazy and find only the stuff a fair prices like the oats, or the flax seeds. I grab some cans of beans and some frozen peas and I balance my nutrition carefully while avoiding the 5 dollar tiny freaking jar of BBQ sauce they want to insult my intelligence with. Its tough, but I manage to avoid the scams in the store and walk out with a decent shopping cart full of nutritionally balance plant foods.

its a pain in the ass, but because of my knowledge, I make it.

>>55

>They still use pesticides, just "organic" pesticides which are usually just as if not more harmful.

I don't believe that its worse. meanwhile all these other corporations add stuff that doesn't leave the dirt for over 40 years without degrading. pisses me off what they do to the earth and you can't rinse off whats already inside your fruits because of what they absorb as they grow and the surfactants they use to make it penetrate.

>The cost is also really high, in terms of cost/benefit, buying organic fruits/veges is very low down the list on cost/health benefits.

unless you know how to choose the right combination of fruits and vegetables to get a proper balance of vitamins, and know how to avoid all the scams.

I feel like so many people pointlessly and aimlessly wander stores regardless of if its wholefoods or some other place with their mouths hanging open in confusing and awe as they randomly swipe items off the shelves and intoPost too long. Click here to view the full text.

I noticed you anons on the /boards/ board and wanted to extend my good will.

I feel like you anons are like a mix between /x/ and /ck/ which is what I'm trying to achieve a bit on my board as well.

I'm not trying to take over /fit/ or anything, but I like being neighbors to a board like yours and /fit/ and /ck/ etc.

I also hate fluoride in my water and love organic food, although I feel it could be better.

so Peace!

How do you feel about the gigantic witch hunt against "Food Babe"?
Seems like big food astroturfing to me, and idiot redditor-type herd mentality following along accordingly. You know the type, they believe that "science" is some kind of unified and infallible holy institution like some sort of pseudo religion.
I don't agree with a lot of what "Food Babe" says, or think she is any kind of authority on much of anything, but the harsh vilification campaign against her is quite curious indeed. Fat people far and wide are smugly chortling into their doritos bag about how much smarter they are than her. Wonders never cease.

Interestingly, it is Gawker of clickbait fame where the sensationalized smear campaign against her seems to have really originated.
