Also get a used 96-200k civic for 1.5-3k or a 2-4k impreza/legacy/camry/accord nothing more. Store the 5000 for a rainy day.

I'm still driving around in my first car. And it's a shitbox civic.

The only answer is Miata NA(not the 1.6, it's slow) or NB. Cheap, reliable, you can find parts almost anywhere and they are fun

Gonna piggyback on this. one of the overhead cam volvo 240s is an amazing choice. you can get a wagon and a 5 speed stick (overdrive for gas mileage) and those things will go hundreds of thousands of miles http://www.volvoclub.org.uk/highmileage/2_model_search.php
