I understand that you might be a big fun of everyone's favorite korean motor company, but you should know that tiburons are both front drive, and not the best you could do for that money.

plus, if it's been modified, assume it's been through a field at least once

well i wouldn't honestly say i'm a fan of hyundai but i mean, i like how the tiburon looks and such.
i'm ok with having a front wheel drive.
>through a field
what do you mean, like expect some touch ups here and there?

i don't have much experience with auto….

If you know intimately about car setup or have even spent a lot of time behind the wheel of a well set up rear wheel drive car, you will know of the difference. Doesn't matter all that much if you're fine with front wheel drive.

By through a field, I mean it's probably going to have been mistreated a fair bit. When you start seeing a lot of >50,000 mile cars, you realize that how hard a car was driven and whether it was cared for, even in little ways, do greatly affect the condition, reliability, and driving experience.

Also, do you have your heart set on an automatic model?

is there anywhere that you recommend i check or invest the most time in scooping out in finding out whether or not it was taken care of appropriately or not.
i figured the easiest way would be giving the interior a good check for tears or rips but thats basic.
im alright with with a front wheel drive, >>2261
eh, i wouldn't say i have my heart set on it.
i just don't know how to drive stick at the moment. Just really tired of what i'm driving right now.

>>2262
when you scooped it out what did you investigate the most? Also just any general specs about it when you did get it.

Be prepared for a two door elantra.

I cannot recommend more that you learn to drive stick. Dont be embarrassed, but it really is a better driving experience to row your own gears, and it makes this sort of car infinitely more fun.

look for cars that have a service history. Have been maintained regularly at the same place and where the papers were saved. Its not 100 percent required, but it goes a long way towards showing the car was cared for. You may want to make friends with a mechanic who can put it up on a lift and inspect it for rust, crash damage, and other dealbreakers. Try to see whether the previous owner(s) is(are) savory people. Fewer owners is better, find out why the car is being gotten rid of. A clean unmodified car is much less likely to have been fucked with. All of this said, I am coming from classic car collecting, and this car is a hell of a lot cheaper and newer than what I'm used to, so it is possible that I have an abundance of caution.

why are they pretty difficult so that way anything else would be easier?

Tranny problems are common 03 - 05 on the 5 speed (premature west on the pressure player)

They are reliable cheap cars and also they suffer from a severe lack of power they are short geared enough that they are fun to drive.

Remove the return spring from the slave cylinder to get a more accurate cell in clutch pedal and upgrade the coils.

5 th great is no fun ( too tall. No acceleration at all)

Bought my 07 2 years ago for 5g. Great deal for the money.

Only had to had the clutch replaced. They are very reliable and take abuse quite well. Bit they are not fast by any means. Any attempt to make it pass for a sorts cat will be meet with ridicule (add it should be,)

Look up Tiburon nation on fb

I had an 04, and although it wasn't the worst car I've ever owned, it certainly wasn't the best.
The 5-speed trans was super sloppy, and the clutch was awkward, even without the spring in the slave. The engine wasn't anything fantastic. Mine actually blew about 2 weeks after buying it, but the replacement was okay.
On the plus side though, the mileage was great, and they are some nice looking cars. I painted mine up a little to make it stand out, and you would not believe all the comments it got.
Expect people to want to race, and expect to lose.

>wanting a hard car for your first car
that's a bad idea, the 240 is easy to work on, easy to handle and can take a bit of a beating.
if you want hard, go buy a tiny car with a big engine and enjoy it until you wrap it around a tree.
