the guy actually isn't, I would guestimate him at not taller the 5'3", plenty of room for a helmet without cutting the headliner.

Besides, notice the hole is really forwards, cutting into the sun visor's space, that's way too far forwards to even be above the driver.

I'm working on the hypothesis that he wanted to cut a hole for a roof scoop, but stopped short.
