I'm looking to get this car imported into the states, but the car is RHD and the GPS has the Japanese map.

Can anyone point out a US or Japanese company that can convert this car to LHD, put US maps in the GPS, change the speedometer unit to mph, etc.?

Better engine displacement, 4WD on some models, better-looking interior, sunroof, DVD players, etc.

There is the fact that the Gloria now sells in Japan for under $1000 when it used to sell for $40000.

there is also the fact that you might not even be able to import it to the USA

or that any company that will convert it to LHD will charge more than the car is worth to do it

converting it to left hand drive is not what is required to make it legal. The car is not FMVSS compliant. it must be 25 years or older to be brought in.

Cars can be imported to the states when they are less than 25 years old, but you have to pay for at least 3 I think comparable vehicles in addition to the one you plan to drive for the government to crash test. Also, if it doesn't pass, you're fucked. You're out all the money you paid for the car(s) itself, the money for shipping, not to mention the fact that I doubt the government is going to crash test them for free.

The only workaround is to find a car you like that has already been put through all the crash testing shit and is on the list of approved cars, or find one that's over 25 years old (like you said).

Also, I don't think it has to be converted to LHD. I've seen people who bought brand new RHD jeeps here in the states to use as post office trucks. I think we have private contractors who deliver the mail here or some shit. I don't really know.

Not OP, but fuck that's some bullshit. I hate how US safety works, if you want to drive a car that doesn't have safety specs for the Josh that has chosen to drive that car, then who cares, its an individual decision. Those fucks just love any excuse for money, like with seatbelt tickets. Way to be free, not being able to drive the car you want.
