Questions that don't deserve a thread thread.

I have a 1991 240sx s13 (ka24de), but happen to live in a country where we only got a renamed 180sx s13 (ca18det).

I am looking to buy coilovers and wondered whether there are any differences suspension-wise between the 240sx and the 180sx chassis.

Would be a lot cheaper to order the coilovers in my own country than from the states.

They're both the same chassis so parts are likely to fit, however the KA think is about 50kg heavier than the CA, so spring rates, and thus damper rates are, likely to be different.

>likely to fit

Hopefully someone knows for sure, wouldn't want to throw 1000 bucks in the lake.

>50kg heavier than the CA

I had no idea.. maybe I'll reconsider a CA swap, even though I kind of like being the "only" person with a ka in my s13.

Cheers anon!

I won't claim is 100% accurate and trusted information, but I supposed it can be trusted, as far as ballpark figures go

I get you, I'll probably try it.

And won't hold it against ya.

I meant the engine weight.

Shock interchangeability, I trust that it'd fit, or fit with some minor adaptations as much as a Corolla shock would fit a Matrix, or that a Highlander control arm would fit an RX330, things that share a platform usually have compatible or nearly chassis components.

I was on a the website of a renowned suspension provider earlier today, and I couldn't find similar part numbers between the 240 and 180, but that might be because one was on the japanese site while the other was on the american site, or that these part number differences account for the different spring and damper rates, etc.

1000 bucks is still some nice coin, so if all else fails, I'd still email or call someone at the place that makes the kit you're interested in and ask, or ask people in the nissan tuning scene, they're bound to know more of what fits and what doesn't between local and export models and across nameplates.

Can a penis fit in the tailpipe of a 1966 Triumph Trophy?

>>3574

You can fit a penis anywhere, all it takes is a bit of determination.

Are exhaust cutouts universal, and can you take a kit to a muffler shop and have them install it? I need a new exhaust as it is.

That's what sawzalls are for.

Is it possible to remove the turbo on a turbo'd car and just be left with a really solid NA?

60f2e6 No.3599

>>3597

If it's old and doesn't have too integrated of a boost control strategy you could, but you'd be left with a really solid and mostly gutless NA. Low compression ratio FTL.

Any S13 can share Coilovers. RPS13 PS13 its all the same. california fag here.

Can I just strip all my paint and put a few layers of clear coat directly on the aluminum to get an aluminum paintjob?

I'm grasping at straws here..

Yes , the delorean is stainless steele body panels with nothing but a clear coat. Many high end cars also have their carbon fiber body exposed with nothing but a clear coat to protect the finish. You would need to polish the shit out of your panels to get them to look decent though.

Anyone here attempted their own paint repair?

I've got a scratch on my car I'd like to fix but dunno how to go about it

That'd be post-clear coat right?

I think it'd be worth it to work hard and then use a really good clear coat, would definitively be unusual.

body panels are steel, not aluminum

theoretically you could polish steel body panels to a fine finish and clear coat them, but unpainted steel starts to develop rust very quickly, and would likely start developing enough to be a problem before you could even finish sanding/polishing all the body panels which would take several days atleast, and any spots where the clear coat was damaged or scratched would start to rust

one of the main purposes of primer is not just to act as a heavy base layer to prevent rust, but also because other layers of paint dont stick as well to bare metal and it compensates for some minor flaws in the base metal

if you use a adhesion promoter with the paint, it might last longer but will still probably not last anywhere near as long as a proper paint job

its fine, there are a couple of hotrods out there ive seen that are steel body cars stripped of paint and clear coated.

Paint scratch, or clearcoat scratch?

5628a3 No.4083

>>4077

Got two scratches, one that's very superficial but quite long (~1 foot) and another much smaller scratch that is much deeper (damn near goes down to the metal).

Neither of these are major issues obviously but I'd like for my car not just to be free of rust but also free of scratches.

There are aluminum bodied cars Like the porshe 944 and the land rover discovery.

>>3556

That doesn't matter. If you're getting an aftermarket suspension you can get it shipped. Just call up a couple of websites or aftermarket shops around you and they'll quote you.

Also what have you done to the engine that requires a new aftermarket suspension? I have seen so many guys and buds drop their cars and get really nice wheels and once they start working on the engine bam Conrod goes and fucks up the crank and scratches Tue cylinder walls.

Work on the engine, do a seals rebuild kit and inspect all the parts for abnormal wear. Change the bearings, rings and all the oil seal.

Also join a s13 or similar forum. They'll have all the info you'll ever need.

>>4083

buf. The shit out of it with wax. Or have some one else do it for like 100 bucks.

Also MAACO is having a special for a complete touchup (light sand, paint on Exterior only and clearcoat) for 400bucks.
