I actively avoided the T models since getting to the ETM is a complete bitch if there's a tarbo in the way and ETM failures is perhaps the only significant issue with second gen V70's. Racing volvos in all honor I didn't buy this car for hotlapping anything other than supermarket car parks.
Also why an 850? Why would I want that rust demon? I ain't going to Africa.

That's what I heard when checking out owner forums and also what I observed when checking out classifieds. Either they'd be 850's with rust or 850r's with aftermarket everything and I'm just not keen on buying someone's drifter project when all I need is something nice and dependable with plenty of torque.
A big part of me settling on the V70 I bought was the fact that it didn't have a single fleck of rust on it on any part of the bodywork. It was a real steal too — quite literally, I beat another buyer by 20 minutes.

I have a fully-loaded '07 S60R, unfortunately with the slushbox, which is probably going to grenade soon. Was gonna wait to get a manual V70R but I couldn't pass up the atacama leather and all of the other goodies. Mostly the atacama. They shouldn't have sold Rs without it.
The turning radius is fucking hilarious because it's like driving a schoolbus. I once saw a dude in Tokyo with a V70R navigating the tight streets and wondered how the fuck he did it.

Very true, I think the longest wheelbase car I've owned previously was a 97 golf I had while in the states. Seems I'm going to have to do a lot more three point turns now

Moet het per se een RWD Volvo zijn? De NA/niet-turbo 850 en V70 Classic modellen zijn ook wel redelijk en hebben geen kut ETM, maar als je echt power wilt is er nog altijd de 850 T5-R/850 R of de V70 R

/o/ you have piqued my interest. i have been looking into 240's for the last couple of days. im looking into getting a cheap 2nd car, and i have seen most volvo 240s in my area under 2 grand, some under a grand. id like to make the sedan something i can take to offroad trails and whip up some dust.
