Why do people even talk about Honda Civics like they're God's gift to the automotive world.
i can think of better alternatives to this poster boy of rice.
the Mazda 3 for example, because best compact car, the VW GTI and even obscure examples like the first gen Corolla Matrix XRS.

The Honda Civic was a really popular car with modders because of its huge after-market. (was and in it's popularity is waning greatly…)
9ca5e6 No.3847
Do people actually?
Because I'm pretty sure it was only one generation that was, and that they promptly became uncompetitive and overpriced soon after.

Yes, i know retards who legit like the current gen SI.
While the rest masturbate to the EG/EK/EP's and get mad whenever people call them out on it.
>No double wishbone
>no high revving engine, K24 boat anchor
utter trash, Absolutely disgusting. I laugh at people who like Civics in general.

EG and EK were legit good cars with god-mode suspension. That's 18 good years in a row.
They didn't make the EP hatch long enough to be relevant, the rest of the 7th gen kept the old D series engine and dumped them in shit chassis.
8th and 9th generation "F_" civics have shit engines in a shit body. The R18 is terrible, it's the most appliance-like engine in the market, even worse than an old toyota 1NZ

Well the EG and the EK can be considered as one of the best cars ever made. Reliable, cheap parts, easy to work on, fuel efficient and low tax. Sure it's not a 800hp Ferrari but it has enough power to get up hills on the highway and modestly pass people of roads.

The 5th to 7th gen Civics were affordable, reliable, and had a huge aftermarkets. They had a huge market in Japan, America, and Mexico, so they made a massive ricing and modding scene, Plus they get great as mileage stock. Its just so piss easy to do shit like engine swaps and make it elegant and not a complete hack job when it comes to older Civics. Modern Civics are trash though

The last true Civic is the 7th gen from 2000-2005, if you want something more modern but comparable to the older Civics, try a Honda Fit

Thats a shame, thought there was a reason why I chose the Scion when I was looking for a half…fun coupe, aside from price. Seemed a bit off. Interior was sexy though.

Well, if you're a burger, you won't be getting the Scion version. Apparently they decided to discontinue Scion, which I don't really give a shit about. Everything Scion badged was just Toyota shit anyway, and should have been badged as such. It must have cost them a fuck ton of money just to shitcan a brand after 13 or so years.

also because kanjozoku
096b00 No.8126
So anyhow, what performance mods should I do to my Civic?
The engine is a JDM 1.6L D engine, the only reason its a JDM is because the previous engine was shot and the last owner got a good deal on an old import that didn't have many miles on it, and no, its not a VTEC
I don't want to go full ricer, maybe just an acceleration boost
Is it a good idea to invest in a VTEC swap? Should I just go with a turbo?
Should I swap the tranny with a manual?

What the fuck is an "acceleration boost"?

I think you don't know what "Rice" means.
It's cheap aesthetic mods.
Plastic bodykit? Rice.
Retarded Wing? Rice.
Gilded Alloys? Rice.
Turbo charger, ECU remap and a V-tec swap?
Not rice.
Slighly lower suspension?
Not rice.

Fuck VTEC, NEO VVL FTW.
Also, go lean-burn TARBO with a Y7 head instead of the retarded 3-stage VTEC shit.
efe244 No.8166

I'm with you man.
Turbos are generally always cheaper.
I bet you could do the whole setup for less than 2 grand.
You could get a Y8, for VTEC, and slap a 13g on there. I'd bet you'd make 190bhp easy

bought myself an '00 aerodeck just a few days ago, what a great fucking car.
Previous owner was some old guy who brought it to a honda dealer for every checkup, so im positive it can run me a quarter million miles with good care.
But that 1.5l e-vtec engine is just crazy, the 5th gear is so long it actually slows down when you shift up from top speed.
Great for fuel efficiency tho, on my first try i got it up to almost 50mpg mostly highway.
pretty damn good for a wagon.
fce1ba No.8372

>50mpg highway
I am convinced the EPA purposefully downplayed the 6th gen Civics fuel efficiency, I get about 35-40 MPG highway on my automatic Civic easy
