This post was sarcastic, right?

Anyway, I'll post what I have right now.

I was in the tan Crown Vic. My dad was driving, and we ended up t-boning a nigress in the Caddy. Spoiler alert: the nigger didn't have insurance

The 3rd pic is the gaping rust hole in the trunk of my VW golf. I haven't been able to find an OEM replacement panel, so I need to figure out how to nigger rig that.

I have some other shit I'll have to take pics of.

>>4445

Forgot to mention, the nigress made a left turn from the opposite direction, ended up running a red light, hesitated, then pulled out in front of us at the last second.

I'd rather fix it with metal. One of these days I'm going to go around looking for junkyards that have MK2s in stock. The likelihood of finding one is minimal, but I've never seen another rust out like this one did. I might just try to find another car that's in better shape and use this one for parts. It's a diesel, btw.

This thread is very weak thus far.

Try this: 8.5l of oil in a toyota echo, and nothing in the transmission pan. Car came in puffing out clouds of blue smoke and barely able to move forwards. guy tried to change oil at home, replace the oil filter and drained the wrong pan, refilled the engine with new oil and didn't check anything.

I can't even imagine what the hell must be going through people's minds when they do this kind of shit. Maybe I could understand if it was on one of those Subarus where it's set up like picrelated, but Toyotas are pretty straightforward.

Anyway, here are some from where I work. First pic is the air intake on a Toyota (I think) that came in for an oil change. Part of the hose was torn off, and what was left wouldn't fit back on. So someone tried to close it up with duct tape. Obviously that didn't work. I took off the rest of the tape to stop it from getting sucked in, then let the customer know what was up. Unsurprisingly, she wasn't interested in getting it fixed.

Pic 2 isn't quite as bad. Someone bought an air filter for their Volkswagen and put it in backwards. Considering how deformed it was, it couldn't have been too easy to do. You'd think they would realize they were doing something wrong at some point during the process of trying to hulksmash the top of the air box back on. But I guess not.

Third pic is self-explanatory.

First pic is, again, self-explanatory. Still one of my favorites though.

Second pic: Another tire replacement. You can see that they had put a tube in a tire that wouldn't hold air for obvious reasons. The wheel got rusted to shit, I guess because the bead wasn't airtight. We ended up having to wire brush the hell out of the wheel, and use an absurd amount of bead sealer to get the new tire to hold air.

Last one is a cat we retrieved from on top of the front axle in a Forenza.

What kind of fucking car has an oil filter like that? Plz tell me the model so I avoid ever buying one. Also, the rest of your pics look like newfag tier shit. Nothing that's really awful.

That blown out tire I wouldn't call "gore" but more /o/ tier YLYL. I've blown out a few tires, but none that bad. Two were on my fox body, and the other was on my Nissan D21. One on the Mustang was a minor blow out. Tread kinda started to peel as I was leaving my driveway. The other one happened at about 60 mph. All the tread peeled off but about 6 inches. That did a pretty good amount of damage. Thankfully, I had full coverage insurance.

The D21 wasn't so bad. I was using the full size spare which had better tread than the rest of the tires and I got probably 2k out of it. I started to notice it was riding like shit, then I looked at the "spare". It had pieces of tread peeled off, and the rest was just all fucked up. I really need to post some pics of that.

What the fuck would cause the intake hose to rip off in the first pic of >>4503 ?

I've never seen that happen to any car because of normal wear and tear. I'm guessing somewhat tried to fix something, and tried to 'MURICAN MUSCLEfuck the intake out of the way.

>Last one is a cat we retrieved from on top of the front axle in a Forenza.

Did they drive it there?! What the fuck man. Please tell me you do work at peoples' houses.

not even a catfag, but I can't image what that little bastard must have gone through if he rode to your shop

That filter is fucking genius actually: No need to remove the transmission p[an to change the filter. just drain it, replace the screw on filter and refill. Voila.

Having the remove a pan to replace a filter, like most slushbox transmissions, is just bad design. That shit wouldn't fly is you have to R&R the engine oil pan for filter changes.

9c0688 No.4573

Also, what gets me about the echo is, these engines, with a new filter, take only 3.75l of oil.

For there to be over 8l in the crank case, the person who did it must've added about 4.5l of new oil, so even if they had drained the right pan, they would still have done it wrong.

And I'm not even touching on the fact that they didn't pull the dipstick after starting it to check the oil level. That's probably the most basic element of an oil change that any would-be tinkerer has to learn on their very first day of tinkering. So even if they had drained the correct pan and added the right amount of oil, they would still be an idiot.

965d00 No.4575

>>4572

I actually thought that was a view from above the other day when I made that post. I can see now it isn't actually that bad to change that filter.

Is that actually a transmission fluid filter? I've never seen one like that before.

Yup, that's the transmission. I've seen subarus, some older saturns, and the Allison 1000 transmission with a screw on filter.

Also, some VAG transmissions have a filter cartridge that's accessible from up top, sadly, you have to remove the battery to get to it.

965d00 No.4578

>>4577

Oh, well that's pretty neat. I thought it was an oil filter in some god awful position, but that's actually pretty crafty. Is there a workaround to install something like that on older vehicles? By that I mean ones that have the internal trans filter.

9c0688 No.4579

>>4578

I guess the only way would be to install a remote on the cooler line.

http://www.summitracing.com/search/part-type/slushbox-transmission-filters-remote-mount

You'd still have to deal with the in-pan filter, but I would suspect that once a remote filter is installed, also installing a new in-pan filter would then allow you to leave it there indefinitely. Also, you might as well replace it when removing the pan to modify it with a drain plug/replace it with a pan that has a drain.

eb94b8 No.4581

>>4578

the main filter in the pan would still catch most of the particles before the filter on the cooler line, you could put a filter on the return line back to the trans after the cooler but it wouldnt do much

IMO, its not really enough of an issue to warrant rigging up some sort of secondary filter thats easy to get to when you usually only have to change the fluid and filter 5+ years and 50K+ miles, transmission pans with no magnet to catch metal filings and no drain bolt are more of a pain in the ass to deal with

moving the oil filter location with a relocation kit does a lot more to increase convenience on most cars, although you still have to climb under them to drain the oil even if you move the filter

8ce09f No.4582

>>4509

Nah the filter hose just looks like it was never secured properly and over time it came off

>>4577

Oh look at that. A oil filter housing for which you need a big ass 32mm socket to loosen up

>>4578

>>4579

>>4581

What if there is no tranny fluid cooler?

Also Why not just remove the pan filter and make a gasket if it also serves as one.

In my opinion a simple drain bolt is enough. dropping the pan at an angle and trying to get it to drain without making a mess is impossible.

eb94b8 No.4585

>>4582

>Also Why not just remove the pan filter and make a gasket if it also serves as one.

because the pan is naturally where metal filings go first

if you dont have a filter there, particles are already going through the transmission and possibly causing damage before they can be filtered

also i havent seen a trans filter that also serves as a gasket personally

almost all newer (80s and up) cars have trans coolers, they are usually integrated into the radiator coils now

Really ive owned a 97 s10 and a 94 accord. Neither had a dedicated cooler.

The s10 did seem to have a part on the trans case that resembled a heatsink. Though i wouldnt consider it a cooler due to placement in a confined space near the engine block.

some lower end vehicles dont have them

but assuming that S10 had a 700R4/4L60E it should probably have a trans cooler, although on V6 models it may not have it, look for around a 3/8" steel line going to the radiator, there should be one on both sides

Justy 4WD: Tank with serious rust problems

Justy 4WD ECVT: Tank with a weak gearbox and serious rust problems.

As much that I like the ECVT, it's weak as FUCK and doesn't like more than 73+ HP.
