hey, what are /o/'s apinion of the ecoboost engine?

Particularly en the Fiesta, both 100 and 125 HP variants

c1136a No.4719

Ecoboost is just Fordspeak for turbocharged.

d8e3de No.4721

>>4719

i know that, but someone that has tried it could say how it performs in this car?

b263fe No.4722

I wouldn't trust ford to make a turbo engine, even the technology behind a simple cast iron manifold for an NA engine has eluded them so far, those fucking modular v8 manifolds are always breaking and snapping off studs.

Their incompetence is further evidenced by the massive teething problems the ecoboost V6 had at launch. How many recalls and service bulletins did it take to stop them from becoming a mess of misfires?

Compounding their metallurgical incompetence and design clusterfuckery, I would advise anyone considering the fiesta ecoboost to wait until the powertrain has been on the road for a while longer, these 3 cylinders incorporate many "firsts" for ford, like a cast-in exhaust manifold and oil-bathed "lifetime" timing belt.

Long story short, if my money was in play, I would not put it on that horse.

>Particularly en the Fiesta, both 100 and 125 HP variants

are you in europe? 100/125hp is pathetically low for the US

d8e3de No.4725

>>4723

yep,

I am considering this car because most competitors in this category only go as far as 90 HP

d40a62 No.4726

>>4725

Where the fuck did you read that?

The base fiesta makes 120hp stock?

d8e3de No.4727

>>4726

I dont know in other markets, but in Europe you can configure it for 125 HP stock (the ecoboost engine)

d40a62 No.4734

>>4727

Where do you live? Why the fiesta? New or used?

d3c7b3 No.4735

Ecoboost just wastes gas and isn't as good as other overdrives.

a1b68f No.4993

>>4718

in general? ecoboost is a gigantic failure because at the end of the day a turbo'd DD is expensive to run

with that being said, I believe the ecoboosts being used in the F150 are the way to go if DD's need turbo'd engines because muh emissions or whatever other regulations that are around that interfere with shit. at least the two ecoboosts in the F150 are designed to run off of 87 octane gas from the get go

a1b68f No.4994

>>4726

OP is most likely from yurop and they have things that are less engine and more of an utter embarrassment to cars in general. like how I think OP mentions that most cars they're shopping for only hit the 90 HP mark

To be honest Europe gets better engines than the US.

>>4735

ecoboost is an engine. Not a transmission

>>4993

stock turbod dd aren't any worse than any other dd.

Though flooring it will eventually lead to bad turbo bearings and changing a head gasket a bit earlier than usual.

what does the EU have to beat out the 392 that won't break the bank
