Cheapest RWD car Anonymous 08/13/15 (Thu) 19:04:52 90760f No.5850
Is the best choice for a burgerclap looking to buy a cheap FR car a third/fourth gen camaro or fox body mustang? I actually like the look of hatchback mustangs a lot.

also consider C4 corvettes and G-bodies, particularly 87+ C4s with aluminum heads and early G-body cutlass' with rocket 350s that can easily be built up

Wait a second, is the El Camino a G body? I like those for no good reason.

you can generally get a early 80's Oldsmobile 88 for less if you don't mind driving a barge that gets 10mpg on a good day, any Volvo 240, 140, 120, or PV544 will run you less than 5k for a manual and are all FR, Ford Falcons can be had for dirt cheep, and there are always trucks.

5k is not cheap.
Cheap is anything 1500 or less

that being said 5k is the upper limit of non-flathood/P1800 good volvos, an automatic mid 80s Volvo 244 with ~200k on the odo will run you around 1500 give or take, a 142e in DD condition will run ~3k, a PV544 can be had for as little as $500 in running order if you look around

OP is looking for a shitbox tire burner curb buster drift machine not a classic to love and wax every week.
But the 244s can be had for cheap and you can pull t5 with 5 speed out of the junk yard for less than 500

It's true that I'm looking for something stupid and amusing to drive more than a practical DD. 244s are cool though.
>>5857
I don't hate trucks, but it's not quite what I'm looking for.
>>5856
That looks a little nice for me, tbh. The Olds 88 sounds like an appealing heap for the money though.
Thanks for all the feedback!

yes, in fact the lighter G-body el-caminos actually have a higher tow rating than earlier ones

Nice! Somehow, the idea of a sedan turned light truck is appealing to me. Maybe I'm just secretly Australian or something– I like inline sixes too.

Well imagine a rwd shitbox coupe/sedan with room that had the back hal of the roof copped because a poor hiptser couldnt fit his kayak on top. Thats what a 2wd pickup is really is.
Also youll have a straight axle. Easy to mod if you wanna lock it compared to the other compact diffs in cars.>>5861

I think its safe to say you're going to find an abundance of foxbodies for quite cheap.

Foxbody mustangs that aren't in horrible condition are becoming harder to find and much more expensive. You can just about get a SN95 in better condition for a better price now. Too bad they are not nearly as cool.
