Breddy much this. It's a nice car, for sure. But unless you have huge amounts of disposable money, there's not much point in trying to make a race car out of something that's simply not built to be a race car.
Take good care of it. Keep it clean, keep up the maintenance, keep it on the road, and just have fun. You can experiment with little upgrades and whatnot if you like, there's no harm in it as long as you don't break anything. But don't pay out the ass for brand-names and dyes.
If you want particular recommendations on oil and filters, you'll probably get a different answer for every person you ask. You really can't go wrong with any well-known, API-certified brand. Some have little nuances that might be nice for certain situations, but in general it doesn't matter that much.
Also, having torn down an engine soon after bombarding it with many kinds of fuel system cleaners, I can assure you that the actual effects of such products are disappointing at best. Not that they don't do anything at all, but you're not gonna get clean valves and injectors without taking them out and showing them some parts cleaner. Just so you're aware.
