d0f25d No.6247

what's the fastest

cheapest

sluttiest car possible for a newbie who just got his license and wants to fuck the road itself?

d0f25d No.6248

also how hard is Center Lock Conversion?

6c4cde No.6249

Volvo 242 Turbo B21FT would be a zippy first car

eeacdc No.6251

>>6247

Don't buy an MR2 if you're just starting to drive. One rainy day and it will murder you. Yandere as fuck.

d0f25d No.6256

>>6251

that sounds amazing. i was thinking of putting an ls7 in one and welding the differential so that it slides more. i'm just concerned if my insurance would go up.

6c4cde No.6257

>>6256

is this a joke? are you 12?

welding the diff on a street car is about as dumb as you can get same goes for putting a new driver in a 500hp MR2

d0f25d No.6258

>>6257

i just want to get the most from my driving experience is all. i don't know much but i do like the idea of being pushed back in my seat, taking a corner at the last second, deliberately losing traction, but i want to feel that idea.

6c4cde No.6259

>>6258

You can do that in a 200hp Foxbody, and be much less likely to kill yourself in the process. How long have you had your license?

459798 No.6260

4th gen f body with dat ls1so anything from 98 and newer, you could find some for <2k depending on where you live

d0f25d No.6261

>>6259

couple days. what if i get an mr2 and put a rotary engine with a 30psi turbo in it?

>F Body

>G Body

>fox body Mustang

>K platform

>Miata

>literally anything other than an MR2.

Buying an MR2 as your first car is the car equivalent to getting a liter bike as your first motorcycle. Most of what is written in my second pic is applicable to that situation. Also, MR2s always come with a myriad of problems. There's a reason they break down so much in 24 Hours of Lemons events. Unforgiving to stop and turn+problems you have to fix right out=not a good first car. If you REALLY want to then you can get one YEARS AFTER mastering the road on another car. It seems to me like your newfound obsession with an MR2 is because you're just ignorant of other cars and don't realize that you can still have fun in a sports car that ISN'T a death trap.

That, or its obvious bait and we all fell for it. I'm leaning more towards obvious bait with this turbo'd rotary engine shit

6c4cde No.6265

>>6261

>what if I get a car that I'll kill myself in, and then give it more power

no

>>6264

I hope this is just bait made to raise our posts per hour

d0f25d No.6270

>>6264

op here. not baiting. i really do love the mr2 for its mid engine, rwd, turbo and manual design. it's like having a full house and being told you shouldn't play it. i just…i just want it. is it really that dangerous for a newbie? i mean i won't be going crazy on it at first, i'd test the waters a bit. i said rotary stuff because someone is selling an mr2 with the engine dismantled, so i could have a spare motor while putting my own in it ( a rotary, or an ls, or a 240 or w/e.)

7c9386 No.6271

>>6270

Two words: Snap. Oversteer.

d0f25d No.6272

>>6271

i always hear about this, but wouldn't having the engine weight on the driving wheelbase make it keep traction better braking on turns and stuff?

6c4cde No.6273

>>6272

yes, but the problem isn't loosing traction on the driving wheels, its loosing traction on the steering (front) wheels, causing you to spin out and into oncoming traffic/telephone pole/into the guardrail

d0f25d No.6274

>>6273

i see. would distributing weight to the front using the trunk to store some stuff help or is that negligible?

6c4cde No.6275

>>6274

It would ether be negligible, or it would kill the weight distribution and thus defeat the purpose of it being a rear-mid engine.

the MR2 is a good mid engine car, not a good first car. if you want a handling machine, any newish Chevy Corvette or Camaro will do fine as a first, as would a Mazda Miata, later Alfa Romeo Spider, Porshe 924, 944 or 928 or BMW 3XX. Even a second gen Corvair would be a safer car than a MR2

d0f25d No.6276

>>6275

i have no experience with owning a car so i can't speak from any experience, but couldn't any of those cars also kill me due to oversteer/understeer?

6c4cde No.6277

>>6276

any car can kill you, the MR2 is just particularly good at it. If you want a safe, reliable, decently handling first car, a first gen Miata, F-body Chevy Camaro, or BMW 32X E36 (all from the 1990s) would be the safest of the bunch.

d0f25d No.6278

>>6277

it's not that i don't want to be given some leeway learning, but i just feel guilty rejecting a chance at an mr2 due to personal fears of messing up. isn't there a thing where people work better under pressure or fear of crashing a car they like, or just crashing in general because said car is as you've described, an eccentric killer? i guess i'll hold off. it is probably better as a goal/project than to dd it on that note is it possible to fit Subaru WRX STI injectors on an mr2 GTS motor? or are top feed injrectors really strict components? again sorry for noob questions.

6c4cde No.6279

>>6278

>isn't there a thing where people work better under pressure or fear of crashing a car they like, or just crashing in general because said car is as you've described, an eccentric killer?

see >>6264 's second image

>Subaru WRX STI injectors on an mr2 GTS motor?

I doubt it

eeacdc No.6282

>>6278

It's not about the car. You simply lack the experience. People don't rise to the occasion, they simply fall down to their highest level of mastery. Since you're starting at zero, can you guess how you will react when your car starts to want to murder you? No, you don't, and it won't be particularly good because you lack theory and practice.

I'm not trying to be a dick, but I'd rather see a carbro alive in a foxbody than dead in an MR2. You're still young, so you will have time to buy the dangerous toys, but an MR2 is too much too soon.

d0f25d No.6283

>>6282

true. i won't be one of those guys who just wants to hear "go for it", so i'll take what you say sincerely and let go of the mr2 for now. now with that said, it IS pretty ballin.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detailpage&v=j0cp8ncm4fo#t=155

i haven't been able to find any foxbodies nearby though. in ottawa, ontario.

c4b856 No.6298

Just go rice out a WRX like all the kids who use their parent's money to buy a car do. Assuming you aren't retarded and actually put a decent set of tires on it for winter time, you can drive it in the snow, and don't have to worry about spinning out as much as you would in something RWD.

I'd recommend something AWD or FWD before you go to a car that's mid engine RWD. Learn to drive and don't be the next treequinox.

Also, besides the fact you could kill yourself, you could destroy a car that's pretty rare. Just learn to drive in a shitbox. Once you actually manage to get by with that for a year or two with no accidents, consider getting something more "sporting"

dfc4ce No.6305

Problem with any sporty car or red car is that they get a price hike.

I owned a civic as my first car. Base ducking civic. Non power steering, no ac no shitty shitty accessories what so ever. I was paying 535 even for full coverage a month with all state. Why? I was a single male under 21 and by default I was more prone to speeding and driving under the influence. Base minimum insurance came to 501 and change.

So my advice to you OP is too get a Buick or some other slow piece of shit, build your record and when you turn 20 or so look for cars but dont buy anything till you figure out insurance cost

c4b856 No.6306

>>6305

>dont buy anything till you figure out insurance cost

Fucking this. I was driving a fox body for the longest time because lol fuck economy. Recently, I picked up a 99 honda accord. The cost just for collision and comprehensive is more for the Honda than for full coverage on the fox body 5.0. Granted, I really like the Honda, as it's a fun car to drive around, but the insurance cost is insane. I already have two other cars on my policy, so I was shocked at how much it went up when I added the Honda.

Anon is absolutely right. Do research on how much insurance will cost. It can be shocking.

fbcc1d No.6324

Not OP, but would a CLK 230K be a good choice? I can find some of those for under 5k and they look in a good shape (apart from usual scratches).

That is, if the insurance isn't too stupid.

Most of the info pics like >>6264 are almost useless to me as I'm from Europe.

bb7f03 No.6325

>>6324

>expensive to insure

>german reliability (lack thereof) of cars of that era

dont

fbcc1d No.6332

>>6325

C208s seem pretty reliable and this one apparently has a rather good service record. Not sure if I'll be able to keep servicing it at MB though, I don't know how much they'll charge me yet.

Second on my list is an E46 318i or 316i. Thoughts?

50cd9c No.6342

>>6332

The fuck nigger did you even read my post?

A Mercedes or Bmw or any other luxuxry brand and or any specific model that has a sporty styling, 2doors, and a sporty engine will be expensive too insure. Why the fuck are you asking us. Call up multiple insurance campanies and fucking ask them.

It'll take 5min of your time and could save you hundreds of Jewshekels.

Also any 3 series bmw will be more expensive to insure than a 5 series.

And any car is reliable. As long as proper maintenance is done you'll be fine. Hard part of used car buying is finding a car that has had proper maintenance done to it. Oil changes and new wipers do not count.

And once again get a slow shitbox. You'll hate it at first but since its your first car not only will you learn and start to love it's shittiness, youll crash it by the end of this year. Get like an opel or fwd volvo

34cf05 No.6351

>>6342

What shitbox would you reccomend?

783bfd No.6352

>>6342

Cool the fuck down.

I was referring to MB service, not the insurance.

Why are 3 series more expensive to insure? It sounds a bit stupid.

And yeah, that's what I'll probably end up doing. Right now I'm still too stubborn on trying to get one of those but I'm already making a list of shitboxes.

4dc6f0 No.7480

not going to find an LS1 F-body for $2K

you might find an LT1 which is almost as good though

Holy shit half chan found our board.

OP how are you possibly this stupid yet managed to live long enough to get a license. You sound like a complete moron.

18d15c No.7559

you cannot make enough money to afford anything even remotely fast if you just got your license

40bfa8 No.7566

>>6352

Because all the young rice eurospec fanboys drive 3 series.
