Feels a bit like it was made by Discovery Channel.
They can do whatever they want, but I'm pleased it's not displacing their normal Roadkill schedule and I wouldn't be in a hurry to watch more of it.
It's like, yeah, you're sponsored by Dodge. Great. I'm sure it was the best fucking day ever for those fans, but for everyone else it was just a bunch of guys who weren't very good at racing or looking interesting while doing mundane things thrashing some top of the line Dodges. And that's novel but not enough to sustain a show for the better part of an hour, even though Finnegan and Freiburger are very capable show hosts (also for fuck's sakes denote the autocross track better, having DNFs in every Roadkill autocross event is getting tiring).
I mean, I like Dodge and all (more than most), but you just can't do that much with the Viper and Challenger and Charger in Hellcat trim. Thrashing them in the dirt was shocking and awesome because that was proper Roadkill, the Charger engine swap would have been awesome (if they actually showed that shit), but this seems like it's phoning it in at this point.
I think that Dodge doesn't have that much to offer here to be honest for a show that has a limited number of gags and stays fresh by being done so intermittently and introducing the viewer to new and interesting cars most episodes. Moreover, Roadkill isn't exactly about new cars.
I kind of think it's about time to wrap up the Dodge collab because Dodge were terrific sports about it (but I don't think it played in their favor (let's face it, you either want a Dodge or you don't, and there's no denying that the Hellcat is impressive in it's chosen field but unobtainable for most), especially when it comes down to sales), and I don't think it can do Roadkill any more favors and it is or will very soon start to piss off core fans.
Actually. I can think of one thing that they can do with Dodge money. Buy a trash old Chrysler/Dodge/Plymouth rolling shell and fix it up with a new crate engine (not hellcat) and maybe do something un-Roadkill with it that isn't dirt rally or drag. This probably won't happen because they have so many fucking cars already and ought to do a charity auction at this point.
