>I'm talking about nodding a car that represents you and that makes you smile. And since no one else is like you and no one else knows what makes you smile you end up with a unique car and not just another "tastefully modded" civic mustang or Subaru with same exact fuzzy dice as every other normie or jdm can boy.
so in other words, modifying a car to be a hipster still
the reason why most enthusiasts modify cars is not to "be unique" but performance, and certain cars are more commonly modified for a good reason
>but remember half the fun of owning a project car is in the build itself. So it's either a prebuilt new 500hp v8 mustang/camaro/Mercedes/bmw or a cheap rusted Volvo rwd wagon with a blown t5 motor.
building a car is only really fun for the first 1-3 you build, after that it just becomes tedious
also a Volvo wagon is literally the most stereotypical hipster mobile you could have picked
>Which car do you think will be more fun?
the camaro/mustang or whatever by a huge fucking margin, especially if you actually plan to drive it on a track like you should
although personally i would rather buy a slightly older 4th Gen F-body or C5 corvette and spend relatively little time and money to get to a comparable performance level, which is also the same line of logic that most performance minded enthusiasts follow
