>P/O mods:

100w blue sylvania foglight bulbs on a 52w circuit which melted the connectors

Pepboys pedal covers [removed]

no service ever done except oil changes. oil when changed by me was sludge

driven by his kids so the carpets all kinds of stained by various beverages.

>Things I fixed / broke:

changed fluids / filters, replaced battery.

replaced old fuel lines.

old exhaust bit the dust in feb thanks to an ice chunk, only rotted parts on the whole car.

>my mods:

Powered by Super Eurobeat decal

Kenwood Deck, jvc 2 way 6.5" speakers, subwoofer enclosure made out of an old ikea shelf, and an OEM 8" subwoofer from a 2010 focus.

ditched the stock wheels and bald tires for a set I bought from a bud in a local automotive group. Mille Miglia 16s, with aluminum hub centric rings on 205/55/16 dunlop all seasons with decent tread (came with the rings, paid $150.)

Harbor Freight Horn set because the original didn't work most of the time and I don't like the sound of hella supertones.

Currently running open UEL borla rep Headers until my catalytic converter arrives, I have 2 new o2 sensors ready. after that I'll get a rear cat delete made / step up pipe made.

eBay stainless 3" downpipe-back exhaust meant for a GD wrx sitting on my shelf til the cat arrives.

heading to a pick n pull this sat to take the 23mm front swaybar / endlinks and bushings off of an 07 tribeca that arrived.

>Future Fixes:

Waiting on a check from commission work so that I can replace the rear main seal / oil separator plate cause shitty brittle plastic.

While the engine is out to do that work: replace spark plugs, wires and valve cover gaskets if bad, possibly do headgasket and timing components for same reason.

finally replace the power steering lines.

I kinda disagree: there are quite a few people using Titanium coil springs on DH or FR bikes and they work fine.

>>7525

Hnnnnng.. Mk1 Outback FTW! Don't forget to adjust the valve clearances while you're at it.

206483 No.7529

>>7528

Oh and by the way: Titanium has a near infinite bending tolerance, not sure what the technical word for it is.

e217a3 No.7530

>>7528

this is only done on bikes to reduce weight and nothing else

>>7529

>Titanium has a near infinite bending tolerance

this is bullshit

how far something can be bent without fracturing is based on tensile strength and elastic modulus which are both lower for titanium than steel

Titanium

Tensile Strength:

200,000 psi (1.27 GPa)

Elastic Modulus: 5,350,000 psi (36.9 GPa)

Steel

Tensile Strength: 250,000 psi (1.72 GPa)

Elastic Modulus: 11,500,000 psi (79.3 GPa)

Titanium is far more prone to fracturing from shock, and has a higher fatigue rate than steel which means it wears out faster and is more prone to breaking.

206483 No.7537

>>7530

Intresting.. I always thought Titanium softtail bike frames had a near infinite life because Ti, but guess I was wrong.

e217a3 No.7539

>>7537

overall the best thing titanium is good at is doing weight reductions on your wallet, it has similar properties to some harder aluminum alloys and actually a lot of machinists i have met think it its an aluminum alloy and you can expect about the same life as aluminum

b69d45 No.7548

>>7545

An honest answer would be, because those toe readouts are to the 1/100th of a degree, and coming up dead even is a lot of work.

Camber readout is 1/10th, so it's easier, but when I got it like that I didn't bother playing with it more because I like a hint more camber on the right side because road crown.

Caster isn't adjustable and has more angle on the right also because road crown.

people in this thread will literally nitpick and bitch about everything

the work that was done to is good work and its fast as fuck i believe it pushes around 25psi then steps up to 29psi depending on throttle position

No machinist on the planet has ever mistaken titanium for an aluminium alloy.

Aluminium alloys are all relatively easy to machine, even the pain in the ass ones that stick to the tool face and like to make long strings of swarf. Titanium on the other hand is tough, sticky and generally ruins your shit.

Here's a link to Kennametal's guide on machining titanium. https://www.kennametal.com/content/dam/kennametal/kennametal/common/Resources/Catalogs-Literature/Industry%20Solutions/Titanium_material_machining_guide_Aerospace.pdf

>>7530

Where did those numbers come from? Steels typically have a young's modulus in the 200GPA range and vary in strength from 300MPa to 1500MPa depending on its grade. I'm not as familiar with Titanium but according to engineering toolbox, has a young's mod of 105-120 and a UTS of 900mpa.

Fatigue behaviour and impact toughness seems pretty similar to steel from what I'm reading, too.

Titanium has its drawbacks, namely galling, poor machinability, difficult to weld, massive cost and very poor conductivity (actually useful sometimes) but I would not say it's weak, brittle or susceptible to fatigue.

I guess I should stay on topic. Some of my mods:

* Engine swap

* Fuel injection

* 6 throttle bodies

* New seats

* Bare metal respray

* New interior

* Upgraded electrical system

* Bigger rotors and calipers on the front

* Rear disc conversion
