Propose to me your ideal driving situation for the purposes of feeling comfy/relaxed. Be as detailed as possible, but at the very least include what you're driving, where you're driving (either an area of the world or even a specific road if you can), what the weather is like and what time of day it is. For example

>BMW E30 M3 w/ manual transmission

>taking the main road west out of Denver, CO up into the Rocky Mountains up to a sleepy hotel buried away in the mountains

>really early in the morning so that the sunrise comes when I'm roughly halfway to my destination

>timed so that the snow is just starting to fall as I drive but not driving so long that it becomes majorly thick on the road

>pipping hot mug of Apple Cider in the cup holder

>tfw you moved away from Colorado before you were close to driving age

I want to learn how to comfy drive, but its hard as fuck when you have to drive in Southern Californian urban sprawl surrounded by shitheads who never let you into a lane. Supposedly it comes with experience to be able to drive around here and not be a complete nervous wreck. I want to enjoy driving around here but I don't know how!

It's simple, just relax.

If somebody cuts you off, tailgates you, or passes dangerously close, just smile and wave, knowing at some point in their lives, they will make a mistake, and leave their families in mourning and debt as they try to move on,

Just relax.

Somehow I don't think your counselling is very helpful, /o/

I'm not a comfy driver, I like adverse road conditions, I find them incredibly stimulating, so my equivalent of a "comfy drive" would be

>12AM

>Snow storm

>Can't see more than 100ft

>Wipers and music combining in a strange mesmerizing beat.

Worse storm I've driven in was in a ST162 Celica GT-S and during some wind gusts I was loosing sight of my pop up headlights and stopping meant being unable to move forwards again.

Fun times.

Or another time I was coming back from NYC up through the white mountains and it was foggy as shit, I was driving 40 with white knuckles but making no progress, so I thought I'd hook myself onto the tail lights of the next local that drove by at high speed. I ended up keeping a 70+ mph pace 3 seconds (and actually keeping count of that gap) behind a ford escape for like 30-40 minutes. The fog was so thick that just 3 seconds behind I was still losing his tail lights in the fog.

This was like at 2AM and I had been driving since the morning before so by the time I reached the border I was exhausted, high on adrenalin and as white as a bed sheet.

That's a "comfy drive"

seems we have the same definition of comfy driving anon.

I always find an reason to get out during a night time snow storm. uh yeah I need bananas from two towns over RIGHT NOW. gliding around on fresh snow is great, can't wait till it snows again.

the only thing I've found to top that level of comfy is the few minutes after a big storm when the roads and covered in trees and the street lights are out. makes you feel like the only person alive

Yeeeeees.

Or you're driving in some torrential rain and it ends, and it's empty slick roads as far as you can see.

Man you're just like me.

The worse the conditions, the comfier they are.

>On Autobahn

>rainstorm so bad you only see some rear lights in front of you

>follow them while getting aquaplaning at 110 km/h

>comfy mode engaged

I think this thread is about comfy driving, not about comfy riding shotgun.

I've done this before and it is great. I can't wait to get my motorcycle license and ride along that highway. It goes though the sandhills, which are apparently the largest dunes in the US.

If you're not controlling the car, you might as well be riding shotgun. I hope you're just a troll that goes away, your self-driving bullshit isn't impressing anyone.

You're probably right - I misinterpreted the focus of this board, my opinions and my attitude towards driving is probably not in congruence with that of its userbase.

There is a big loop on the highway I took every night at around 1 - 2am when I left work as a teenager. Id take a road trip just to go down it again.
