It really pains me to see this board unused considering I'm the one who asked for it's creation. To remedy this I'm going to try and kick some life into this place by talking about some easy starting texts and resources I use that you can find online.

https://mega.co.nz/#F!C5wQ1JqZ!ics3BJ1RrVWtCOpA1XZyqw

^This is the grand daddy of all text and manual dumps, about a years worth of reading on most of the widely used books and techniques used by Magickal Operators. I would say start with the beginner tab which has a lot of Israel Regardie and Dion Fortune on basic ritual construction, an introduction to The Philosophy of Magick as well as some manuals by Aleister Crowley, and some yoga + some symbol, myth and ritual guides a swell as an intro to chaos magick.

If you are not really interested in Ritual Magick or Results Orientated Magick but want an experience of self realization, or more accurately Consciousness Change go to the same Mega Upload File and go to Robert Anton Wilson and find PROMETHEUS RISES for a basic (if not somewhat outdated) map to your basic brain and how it affects the decisions you make and your conscious actions. Through a process called Nuero-linguistic programming you can affect your habits and retrain your brain, a skill that is absolutely essential to the success of an elaborate ritual to enact a large change or just getting in the mindset to not be NEET fuck.

I kind of see this board as being a bridge between /x/ and /ebolachan/. Both talk about magick and ritual but /x/ is slated to more of a paranormal aspect of these traditions rather then actually learning them and the altars and rituals that ebola chan worshipers are really limited in it's scope.

When this board picks up a bit I hope it will have discussion's on all of >>17 's text. Which I personally haven't read but with the exception of alchemy I've looked into all those subjects.

The lack of people is a problem on most boards, it was foolish to split such a small community up into so many different boards.

Just came here pressing random boards, I've been looking for something like OP for quite a long time, so I just wanted to say thanks

On the topic of that mega dump, I have a scan of "Ether, God & Devil" by Wilhelm Reich to contribute if you'd like it?

Any way for me to send over for uploading?

This is a board for learning about and discussing Asatru/Heathenry/Polytheism and European Culture.

I'm not here to steal users, but to provide a forum for those who want a more Asatru/Heathenry/Polytheism specific board.

Maybe we should create a boards friends list in our sticky, so that users can be shared across multiple boards.

Thanks for this link.

>Maybe we should create a boards friends list in our sticky, so that users can be shared across multiple boards.

That would be a good idea. We're pretty spread out. We should try to centralize a little. I'm willing to add a 'friendly boards' sticky if you are. We should find other boards that are interested first, though.

Just edited an existing sticky. Have you contacted any other boards about doing this?

c2e90c No.84

>>83
No, but I might contact /fringe/, they've got a large user base that we need.

4b7245 No.85

>>84
I'm not sure they would go for it. It would be hard enough just to get noticed by a mod there, and if you did we really wouldn't have a lot to offer. Smaller communities are more likely to link to other small communities because everyone benefits, but larger communities don't really benefit from smaller communities.

c2e90c No.86

>>85
Maybe you're right. Bigger boards want to keep all the users, like how 4chan bans people who post 8chan links.

I'm gonna try anyway, to see what they say.

I've been lucky to have time to look at /fringe/ and it's basically what I thought this board would become and a little more, but I still think this board should stay up.

I like boards with less shit posting and more indepth posts which is difficult to maintain with a larger user base and still have lax moderation. Fringe is great but you have to sort through alot unnecessary commentary and off topic threads.

My suggestion is to keep /occult/ focused on individual texts/topics so that people make longer posts and maintain a much more cohesive narrative. What I have in mind is like a peer maintained study group.

So if /astaru/ is focused on (in broad terms) European Folklore, /fringe/ is focused on esoteric knowledge and Magick in general, /ebola/ is focused on their goddess and rituals, /x/ is paranormal, then /occult/ should function as a library and resource finder for the other boards ideally.

Thoughts?

4641ee No.99

>>96
That could work. We don't need to have every topic in a single board. More boards means we can tailor them for a specific subject, which makes it easier for users find what they are looking for.

64d354 No.100

>>99
I wouldn't say that we need an entirely separate board but separate threads divided by main topic. But in the case of cultural boards like /astaru/ or if someone made a /Celtic/ or a /daemonalty/ board those could be separate but for things pertaining to serious occult study we should set a designated place in my opinion. Celtic folk magick, daemonaltry slated techniques and exercises could exist here and on their respected boards.

So for example someone might make a thread about Stregha (Italian witchcraft) which would consist of a bunch of sources and information along with a general discussion of it. A big thing in Stregha is making Talismans so that would be discussed in it's thread but a separate thread perhaps discussing Sigils as the main topic might also discuss making talismans.

We should also discuss some board wide rules that will keep people on the threads topic. For example:

1. New threads must have an article or text source/ commentary or instruction of academic merit.

2. No multiple threads on the same topic unless there is a major need for a separate sub section that cannot accompany the original board.

3. No shit posting unless it makes the janitor laugh.

Board owner here. I like the idea and want to work towards maintaining it.

>>100
>1.
I think that would be a little too restrictive. People should feel free to ask questions that they don't have a source for. Threads requesting material would also be banned if all new threads needed a source. I like the idea behind the rule, but it needs more leniency.

>2.

>3.
I like these rules as they are. I'll think about any more I may want and throw up a list when I have one.

22690d No.103

Rules are up. I don't think we need any more than that.

Which reminds me does anyone have “Hands-On Chaos Magic: Reality Manipulation through the Ovayki Current” in PDF or epub format?

For give me for shilling but I recall you posting on /cyber/ about wanting to move. If 8chan dies and whatever monoelain thinks they're working on doesn't pan out I'd be interested in hosting /occult/ on https://penumbra.network . I think /occult/ could fit in well as the site isn't really supposed to be solely about cyberpunk. I'm still working on front end javascript features right now, but the layout and main css is basically done. If you're interested you can just post over there in /meta/.
