I wonder how much of an interest there is for these things here, would be great to see more discussion come up.

Does anyone else follow the japanese amateur omo game dev scene?

>Waiting for Wetters Taiken 2 updates

>MojiQuest progress advancing 0.01% at a time
>ShikkinSchool updates are a perpetual mystery
>Still mourning the death of Split Shadow

If anyone's interested I could get around to typing up a mini-guide detailing all the ones I know of and which ones are good.

9cd7ea No.61

>>59
A guide would be super-helpful, although I never personally got into omo games.
There's quite a lot of game discussion at omorashi.org

they have a bunch of twitter accounts, still waiting for aquamagic to be released, the alpha ver looks really good.

8f358a No.63

Do you remember that game that had you take pictures of your classmates out of revenge after they wet themselves? It had custom sprites and animation despite using rpg maker, I had it once but idiotically deleted it and can't find it anymore.

Pretty sure you're thinking of StateofShoot unless there's another one with a really similar premise.
https://mega.co.nz/#!JZgikajQ!TNRLRTRC8Ga5iXdySZte3H4ECOkM6tGz8z0e8lxlVec

A bit too simplistic for me, but I'm glad I have it for collector's sake because it was a huge pain to find.

>>62
I think I follow pretty much all of them already, definitely worthwhile even though I can't read most of the stuff they're saying.
Aquamagic is doing lots of interesting things with its engine but it's odd how little we still know about its story.

>>61
omo.org doesn't really have as much discussion on them as I'd like, the entry bar is a bit high when most of them only have a very passing interest.
Will type up a guide soon.

8f358a No.65

>>64
thats the one, thank you so much, it really was simple, but it was the first one that I'd ever played. I need to make a non gg related twitter account so that I can follow them myself, I mostly just follow their pixiv.

The music on it surprisingly good for one of these types of games too imo.

After thinking too much about what to put into the guide I realized that I was overthinking it.

Arranged by author with relevant details:

Aoi Kurage/Blue Jellyfish
A pretty famous omo artist, and the one behind the 200-page epic Tokonatsu! Hamuko-chan. ( http://g.e-hentai.org/g/501977/671bea24c7/ )
Also a seasoned game dev with two full games and one mini game under his belt, all which revolve around his other fetish of underwater breath-holding.

=Mojiquest=
Currently in progress is the really impressive omo rpg, Mojiquest. The game pictured in the OP post.
It has a demo release with a lot of content and an english fan translation.
A pretty good write-up is here:
riacarbonette.tumblr.com/post/82546425775/
You might recognize pic related as being where one of the board's banners came from.

+Great art, sprite animation and a lot of custom content
+Solid desperation system
+Actually a fun game on its own
+Demo is fully translated
-Aoi Kurage's main interest is in desperation, so while there are wetting scenes and animations, a lot of the other stuff like using the toilet or peeing outdoors is just a fade-to-black

Judging from his twitter/pixiv posts though, there are a lot more new features in store for the future.

Personal rating: 9/10

=SokoUmi=
His first diving/breath holding game, SokoUmi, also has two very nice desperation scenes. It's also fully translated.
The game is fun so there's no big loss playing through it to get there (Recommended: use cheat engine's speedhack to compensate the slow walking/swimming speeds), or alternatively recently someone put a Lets Play up:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Bc1rB8LqCmM#t=999
https://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detailpage&v=yjU_-zODLC4#t=1598 (Continues into part 12 after all the puzzles)
(Also you probably want to mute the guy's voice)

Can't really rate SokoUmi as an omo game but even that first scene alone is pretty great, rivaling the scripted desperation scenes from Mojiquest.

Arabes
A true veteran omo game dev, he's been making 3DCG games with good gameplay since 2006, when CG didn't even look that good.
http://www50.atwiki.jp/sgame/

=ShikkinADV=
His very first game with simple visual-novel type gameplay and a few nice scenes.
Back in 2011 he remade this with nicer images since the CG girl in the first one was a bit scary-looking.
You play as Iwao, the recurring MC, and take a friend out on a date.
+Full translation patch exists
+Features desperation/wetting mostly with a couple of outdoor scenes
+- Simplistic gameplay, occasionally a bit clunky but it does its job

Rating: 7/10, pretty good for what it is.

=Shikkin128=
His most popular work before ShikkinSchool, in this game Iwao goes to a fireworks festival and takes photos of desperate/wetting girls to sell for money.
+A really nice variety of scenes and characters with a cool premise
+Fun interactive gameplay
+Partial translation patch exists somewhere.
+Features desperation, wetting, outdoors, and some toilet scenes
-As the oldest Arabes game without a graphical remake, some of the CG models look pretty dated. Depends on the girl.
-Can be a bit grindy since you start with a really bad camera and have to earn your way to a decent one.
I don't think you lose much by just using Cheat Engine to get enough money for the best camera at the start, since the core of the gameplay is figuring out how to unlock all the scenes.

Rating: 8/10, a classic.

=ShikkinPlus=
This one is more of a dating sim as you manage Iwao's daily life, raise stats, and meet the girls he knows in various situations.
+Lots of small nice scenes
+Ayumi best girl
+Full english patch
+Mostly only desperation and wetting
+- Gameplay is very simple compared to Shikkin128
-Also quite grindy
-Raising stats requires knowing trivia about omo scenes in a bunch of obscure japanese games/manga. The english patch supplements this a bit with an optional patch that changes all the questions to be about omo games/manga the english community would be more familiar with.

+Also features a 'Real Mode' which has three scenarios you need to figure out in realtime. I thought this was quite a cool gamemode.

Rating: 7/10, a bit ahead of ShikkinADV.

=ShikkinSchool=
Pictured in the gif.
Definitely Arabes' best work yet.
You play as a robot impersonating a teacher, controlled by Iwao, and you use your status to go around the school and cause desperation and other things among the students.
Featuring full animations for all the heroines.
Not officially finished as it still updates once in a blue moon, but there's a whole load of content.

+Animated omo scenes!
+Features: Desperation/Wetting/Toilet scenes/peeing outside/peeing in containers/pretty much a bit of everything.
+Wide range of heroines
+Enjoyable gameplay (It used to be pretty challenging but now there's an in-built walkthrough system now if you fail a quest too much)
-No translation patch yet, but the dialogue is quite simple and the animations also speak for themselves.

Rating: 9/10, this is one of the best I know alongside Mojiquest.

I've also just realized that typing all this out for all the other games I know will take ages, so I think I'll be a bit briefer from here on.

More to come tomorrow maybe.

b46f22 No.71

I was actually thinking of making one myself, a side-scroller with various fetishistic level-ups and associated behavior modifications and stat boosts.

Problem is I have no time, experience, or artistic talent. But maybe sometime.

e42dcb No.72

>>71
>no time
Start really small, like as small as you can imagine a functional game being, and try and get that done. Gives you a better sense for time management and also a realistic sense of scale.

>experience

Everyone starts at 0 experience. That step from 0 to 1 is the hardest.
Going with the above idea also supplements that.

>or artistic talent

Depending on what you want to make, you can get a lot of stock images from other places, or if your game is light on custom graphics you could convince an artist somewhere to draw them.

9cd7ea No.76

I think I will collate some sort of database of Omorashi games and link it in a sticky at some point.

>>72
If time permits, I could draw characters for anyone here who wants to make a game.

8f358a No.79

>>76
I've been considering attempting to make one as well, but even though I have programming skills, I can't draw or write for shit.

9cd7ea No.87

>>79
Out of curiousity, what is your preferred programming language/environment?

Also if we find a writer we might be able to make a small game.

8f358a No.89

c++

e42dcb No.97

Writing is the easy part for me, really.

Though the hardest part by far is getting a reasonable idea everyone can agree on and then making sure everyone delivers.

C++ for me too. I'm trying to into Qt right now.

More of a C# guy myself, though I code software not games.

8f358a No.102

>>101
I have no real world experience with either, since I'm still in school and the only things I've coded are homework, so I would be learning as I'm coding.

6a0605 No.103

>>102
Same, and my professors keep piling on abstract design theory and skimping on coding assignments…but then I haven't had a lab in like a year so it would just be me paying to take a class where I go listen to them talk and then figure everything out myself with a few vague hints.

9cd7ea No.104

>>103
Theory's 60% of my grade here, so I've forced myself to pay attention to it.
We're finished with our coding projects so I might just pick up C++ over the summer.

8f358a No.108

>>103
My classes barely covered theory.

b54a1f No.132

I've always liked the idea of a game that would try to encourage the player into holding. Perhaps rewarding their party with more MP or luck (increasing as time goes by), or something equally as silly. I can imagine players almost peeing themselves just to defeat a boss, or to get through a tough cave or forest. The final boss would be great fun. Of course, a player would have to be honest about when they use the toilet.
I've noticed it's not a popular angle for these kinds of games, I've only really seen anything close to it in those holding challenges on milovana.

8f358a No.145

>>132
True, theres no way the game could hold the player accountable if they decide to cheat. I wonder what kind of design could be implemented to do that. Maybe penalizing use of the pause function or something.

9dbfec No.146

>>132
Do you know if any games exist that do that?

b54a1f No.147

>>146
Not really, I've only seen anything similar in the pee holding webteases (e.g. http://www.milovana.com/webteases/showflash.php?id=27188 ) that are occasionally linked from omorashi.org and such.
Unfortunately I haven't seen a proper game like this yet.

8f358a No.269

Anyone know if mojique has had any recent updates?

No update since second demo, overall progress is 41,02% (current status: drawing character pictures)

Has anyone managed to beat this game? I can never get to the omo scene because I can't figure out how to use the items.

8f358a No.415

>>413

I haven't even gotten to that one yet, I'm still stuck nyo time traveler.

854aa3 No.416

>>69

Where can I get the translation patches?

43f3c9 No.417

>>413

Items are automatically used in dialogues. Also, if you're playing translated version, make sure you don't skip the scene at the end of your first playthrough, otherwise the game won't register this playthrough as complete even if you fulfill other requirements.

83c31a No.435

>>417

Alright, I managed to get the first ending and a registered save, but I can't seem to get past the park part of the second playthrough. She always runs to the bushes no matter what I do.

8f358a No.618

has there been any updates from the mojiquest guy? Is the project even still alive?

3e2bf9 No.619

>>618

Aoi Kurage has been scarily silent, on pixiv and twitter too.

But he's finished making two full RPG games before, so I've got faith in him.

And I very much know what it's like to be silently working on an omo game that lots of people probably assume you've given up on.

There are two drowning ones.

Or three, if you count that kunoichi water torture minigame he made.

In theory.

Oh nice, I assumed that one was dead. Glad to know you're still working on it.
