Hidden service owners can check-in here and talk about running a hidden service, answer questions and give advice to new people who want to run a hidden service, give a link and describe the hidden service they run, and more.

I am running OpenBSD in a VM, I have bridged the networking so I can see a web server running on OpenBSD outside the VM. I am attempting to set up a TOR hidden service.

I have installed TOR (pkg_add -i -vvv for). It is in, and the daemon appears to start okay.

I an edit /etc/tor/torrc as per the FAQs and How to’s to enable a hidden service. But I am not getting the hidden_service and private_key files written. They do not appear in the directories as specified in /etc/tor/torrc!!

Any ideas? Should I set up a separate user for TOR to run? I have chmodded the hidden_services directory so it can be written globally, but still no files appear…

What have I missed? The FAQs do not seem to cover this.
