/4chon/ here, my board's front page seems to be updating at about the same pace.

To all board owners, you really should let your users know what's going on (as far as you know, I for example don't know a damn thing) with a board message (check my board for an example) or a sticky. Most users don't likely use /operate/ or even know about it, and even the front page has absolutely no information about why this problem is occurring. If we are losing users it's because no one's communicating this essential information to them.

I mean compared to say November 2014. I don't remember there being delay problems anything like this, and surely the amount of traffic was far higher? And the software we're running on now has had work done on it since then. What's changed since then? Is the money going into Infinity next development instead of hosting? ( I don't even read the transparency reports lol)

I think it's the fact that there are well over 9000 boards now, thousands of which that are completely redundant, that the staff don't want to delete. I was told that the boards aren't the chokepoint but large threads, the fact that these boards sometimes have hundreds of threads in them with hundreds of posts each should not be ignored.

On the first of september there was 7,689 boards

You'll note that this problem has been getting substantially worse since it first appeared some time in november.

Who's making all of these hundreds of new boards here, especially when this website would appear to anyone not in the know as almost completely abandoned, with most boards seeing a front page refresh only once every 12 hours or so? I wouldn't be surprised if many of these boards are being created specifically to exacerbate this problem.

1. make board

2. make a couple dozen threads

3. spam threads with images and randomized junk text strings to the bump limit or higher using bots

4. repeat hundreds of times

This is only a hunch, mind you, it would be interesting to see if there's any single-poster boards with thousands of posts therein but I'm not going to scroll to the bottom of the front page boards list to find out.

Hotwheels has either been neglecting or actively sabotaging 8chan's source code, because it has been getting buggier and buggier since early this year. For fuck's sake, we've been having the problem with the front page updating for months and Hotwheels hasn't said a word about it except "donate to infinity next ;^)"

Meanwhile, he's willing to convince 8chan's users to donate over $12,000 of their money to "infinity next", 8chan's supposed successor which is being coded by Josh, a pedophile and literal /cow/-tier autist. Even after 7 months of development and $12,000 down the drain, Infinity Next still looks like shit and has nearly as many bugs as 8chan does right now, even while it's still missing a bunch of important features like the ability to hide threads from the catalog or function properly in every major web browser.

Well fuck you Hotwheels I'm never donating another cent to you or your shit website again. You're a shitty, negligent admin and a terrible judge of character. Go rot away in your IRC circlejerk you cuck.
