So I got a new graphics card and wanted to play a good looking racing game.I got this one since it came out in 2014 I thought it would look good, but it looks the exact same as NFS shift from 2009 (and plays the same).So are there any racing games

Problem with racing games is that you either have:

>Good physics, good gameplay but outdated graphics
>Good graphics, but terrible physics and gameplay

The only one I can really think of that fits both good graphics and gameplay is Assetto Corsa. Even then, the game is still missing a lot of features that were in rFactor a decade ago like flag rules.

Wait for project cars. That shit looks good. Whatever you do, avoid GRID 2. Haven't played autosport, but GRID 2 has some shit gameplay and AI, not to mention the physics are fucked. Dirt 3 is pretty good-looking even by today's standards. I'd play that. Personally giving Assetto Corsa a shot right now. Looks like features are missing, and the biggest thing for me is car selection. Nothing beats GT5 in that area, too bad that it has lots of other shortcomings, else it would be perfect. I love my 90s Jap cars. Racing with cars you can actually go out and buy is pretty cool. Maybe someday for PC.

If you're looking for Graphics only:

Dirt 3, Project Cars, the new GRiD titles, Shift 2.

Not quite sure why you would play those, I'd rather play an enjoyable title than one that looks good.

Problem with GT5 is that a lot of the cars are low poly leftovers from GT4 and earlier, some even from GT2. That and it suffers from a bad case of terrible sound syndrome.

I'd argue that it's way harder to find a game with good sounds than it is to find a game with good graphics. You can have eye candy all you want but if you don't enjoy the roar of the engines then it's not fun opening the engine. I've had points in games where bad sounds turned me off of the title.

True, GT5 did have that problem, but even if you only count the premium car list, that's a hell of a lot more than you get from most other sim titles. The engine noise is also awfully bad, like vacuum cleaner bad.

Yeah, I've played GT5. Engine sounds are really awful, it's the thing that prevents me from just booting up the game is those noises. I've been into GT Legends and Historic GT for that reason since the engine noises are really nice to listen to.

Problem is that there hasn't even been any very good racing games worth purchasing full retail in years. Even The Crew is 33% off this weekend and that is basically a glorified Test Drive Unlimited 2 with UPlay.

could not recommend anything made by slightly mad studios (nfs shift/shift2/projectcars) their handling model in all of their games is dreadful. it's like every car has insane understeer, then oversteer, and they're all on ice.
