As for the job market, I think that would depend on your country. In my country (A third world shithole) in general C# is pretty in demand from established businesses as they are looking to move away from VB and Delphi, start-ups prefer to use free stuff so they tend to end up using weird barely held together software stacks, stuff like Node.js and mongodb and other free technologies.
