So, about CSS. If we do decide on flags, there's a cool flag-flipping CSS I first saw on /fringe/ (it's spread) where if you mouse over a flag it rotates. Purely for giggles.

If anyone has ideas for CSS to give the board some flavor without making it a violently clashing eyesore, pls do share, whether it's actual code or just "the background should be this web color".

Also, I don't know if anyone besides me cares about getball, but I can add in GET-noting text around significant numbers, trips, whatever. There's also a rainbow strobing eye-fuckery version you can see on display in /sp/'s get thread.

I added the new rule, other mods pls be lenient and remember not to autosage anything with a significant amount of content in it.

I was thinking about making some special video stashes for phones, but I don't own one myself, so I have some questions for those who do:

- How much "disk" space do phones have now?

- How much of that would you want to devote to a secret piss stash?

- What sort of screen resolution are we talking about here, and what are the common aspect ratios?

- Webm or mp4? What plays better?

- Would you want less full quality videos or more reduced quality videos for a small screen with a good ppi?

- Removing audio saves space, would you want it left out for more video or included for fewer videos but with sound?

- Is there any relevant restriction on a file size for a video a phone can open up? Would you want larger, longer videos and clip compilations or just 8MB clips like we can post here?

Webm not supported on Windows Phones, don't know about the main 2.

Reduced quality fine, I'd prioritise performance and most videos are low quality to begin with

Audio is important I feel

Smaller, more lightweight videos are preferable but there aren't many restrictions on video length on a phone

I know droids can run WebM because Google loves it. For all I know, Apple runs mp4 exclusively or something.

I might make a collection of videos at like, 400x300 and similar resolutions with a max bitrate of 250k or something, and sound where applicable. Just to be easy on hardware and very portable. Might as well pack as much as I can into 8MB doses and leave it at that. Going to play around with ffmpeg some more and then I'll probably be asking for some more suggestions/opinions.

I didn't expect to be bumping this thread so soon after unstickying it.

I've decided to stop using 8chan, for the most part. I baleeted the stuff on /undina/ and the links there from here will be dead; sorry. Don't like to leave things untidy, especially potentially copyright-infringing things. Not in the 2010s.

I won't be leaving immediately; I'll stick around until the new admin(s) settle(s) in, and I may be back occasionally, anonymously or otherwise, to check up on the board and leech any new stuff, or maybe even post something here and there.

I've sent the admin account details to the two board volunteers; they've been here for as long as I have. The only reason I was board owner in the first place is because of the four people lurking and discussing post-wipe, I was the one who emailed HW about it. So I hope it'll be in good hands, whoever gets it.

You guys might also consider making that Clear Wetting Revival guy a vol if he ever shows interest, I remember he was there too and dumps lots of good content.

There seem to be some new or exacerbated problems regarding updating page and thread views. Luckily, official release of Infinity Next shouldn't be delayed much. I have a variety of concerns about it, but so far Josh at least seems unwilling to make it Orwellian, which is the main point. Will it ever look like Burichan by default? I don't know. If not, I'm sure someone will post some decent Burichan reskin CSS eventually on /operate/ or /next/ or somewhere. Or we could try to do something new and cool if no one's too attached to the look.

In the meantime, hang in there everyone. There's some weird inconsistencies between threads and comments showing/existing on the page and whether they show up or exist in thread view, just noticed it today.

beta.8ch.net/pee exists, but is still very much experimental, and remember that anything you post there may (read: probably will) get deleted when the boards are migrated.

If there's anything I can do to ease 8ch's existential hiccups throughout this, please let me know.

For anyone not in the loop, there was a failed migration to beta the other day. Despite the failure, the posts themselves transferred, but beta is currently unusable. It was 504, now it's 503.

Despite this and not knowing how long it will take to fix, HW and Josh dread a full migration so much that they have said firmly that there will not be another one.

No posts made here from now on until Next is fixed will be there when the switch to beta is made. No posts or boards from before now which were made on Next still exist. When Beta is working and becomes the new 8ch, this post and any made after the first migration will cease to exist.

Someone from /art/ made a timeline graphic I got from /tech/, posted here. This whole thing is being handled very poorly but hopefully beta will be fixed enough to be workable soon.
