I often hear about investigations going on in other places, IRC channels, skype groups, etc. (don't ask, I don't know where they are), so please don't judge gamergate's investigation activity entirely on what you see on 8chan / Twitter / Reddit.
About /gg/; the board was set up as a honeypot to keep shills, trolls and newfags away from the traditional #GG threads on /v/ (it's titled GamerGate, of course the shills and trolls are going to go there to shit things up), but obviously this wasn't made apparent enough to everybody else. /v/ was also under the impression until recently that /pol/ was working on this stuff, only to find that they had dropped the subject months ago in favour of whining about /gg/ and twitterfags not focusing on /pol/ topics.
I also feel that deleting important information that would aid investigation, is directly hindering investigations into these areas.
The #GamerGate twitter-gamer-sphere isn't going to make a lot of noise about any of the information here, the vast majority only came into this for the games journalism front AFTER the broader political/social/cultural topics were already "handed over to /pol/" so to speak due to information overload. A more /pol/ focused community would need to form there, organically and independently. Obviously, I can't give you that but it's not out of the realm of possibility if the right moves are played.
Now I will admit I don't know shit about this side of GG beyond discoveries made and shared on /v/ back in August and September, everything I've attempted to investigate myself so far has turned up nothing and I have never visited /pol/ nor do I ever know what the fuck those guys are talking about, but I will personally make an effort to focus more on these issues if it means bringing back posters that actually know how to obtain and analyze information, even though I haven't a clue about any of this myself.
What I can't do is get the majority of /v/ or twitter users behind it, they are doing their thing (yes it involves playing up to indie and AAA devs, fuck publishers though) and believe it or not, it's fucking working. Devs are beginning to come out in support of GamerGate, anonymously so far (check BroTeamPill's videos), but many more are on the way. If it's ecelebs that are your concern, they are about 100 people tops out of about 50,000, and the reason why you hear about them all the time on /gg/ is because A: that's where we redirect people who care about that bullshit, and B: because the shills know it kicks up a fuss and derails threads, they've been doing this since JonTron.
What I CAN do is ask that if anyone is interested could they make their way over here to help out, although having all the data in this thread deleted isn't going to help. I would go so far as to say I desperately want this "White cis males are fucking scum, become a socjus feminist today!" shit out of the mainstream and western society as a whole, and I think GamerGate plus the recent ShirtStorm are the perfect openings to start a backlash avalanche.
It's painful to see that some fantastic minds in this are leaving due to GamerGate's primary "SJWs? No, ethics in games journalism" front, and I can't just sit back and watch it happen.
TL;DR - please don't leave, love /v/
