"Help"

We on /phile/ and the rest of the paedo/hebephiles on 8chan are Pro-Contact. Even if being a paedophile wasn't a borderline thought crime and we could go out on the rest of the internet with out any trouble our stance wouldn't change.

The only way to actually help us is to make paedophilia something the public can talk about, actually think about, and have opinions about with out the worry of getting in trouble or deemed a paedophile themselves if they have the wrong opinion.

I can see how it is difficult to make any progress on such a taboo subject, how general society treats people about there being paedophile reminds me of how the government is with people who use illegal drugs! Instead of treating it as a health or mental condition, they just persecute everyone as criminals when that us clearly not the case, and so instead of any progress with helping, education, harm reduction etc.. People are just locked away in prison with no improvement overall.. I agree that even just having a more open and neutral voice of opinion to try understand and possibly even help could result in myself being scorned and labeled, even when I'm not paedo phile! I would also line to add that the major difference between paedophilia and ephebophilia needs to be taught and talked about, and especially in a legal context because they are totally different? But are treated as one in the same thing, which I believe is actually a great injustice to a lot of good people that are merely misunderstood because of disinformation or lack of proper knowledge with social, neurological and psychological understanding!

Fixed that filter, fixed your posts accordingly. I'm trying to discourage the use of the slur (intentional or not), "pedo." But it doesn't seem that I can make the filters specific enough to not catch things they shouldn't.

Honestly, that American spelling is used so seldom for actual paedophilia that you should just spell it the original way for clarity.

Well said. Good to see these discussions are continuing, if only because our prisons are at nearly double capacity and there's not enough money to keep treating all deviants the same as rabid dogs, even the mostly-harmless ones. Sadly most people have already made up their minds and it's practically impossible to get anyone to listen or think logically when it comes to certain topics. The more we think of children as people and the less they're treated like a sacred and endangered species the more progress will be made.

On a more serious note, does anyone else think that maybe people are becoming more open-minded because the internet has allowed us to see exactly what everyone else has been secretly into all these years? Not too long ago pedophilia was about as evil as you could get. Now we get the same kinda hate homosexuals had to deal with in the 70s and 80s. I'm not holding my breath for hands-on acceptance, but it wouldn't surprise me if fantasy, looking at images, and even coming out is safe in the near future.

It could take a lot longer than a generation or two that it took to accept gays because of the whole "think of the children" mentality. Child protection laws are getting more strict, not less. And sex crimes are the only crimes where no one shows mercy to the perpetrators.
