the most important thing about transhumanism and singularity is that everyone must have freedom and choice to change or not change, NO ultimatum, no backing into corners, no forcing however direct or indirect.

we must have freedom and we must have infinite choices. nobody must ever be forced to be a part of something they don't want to be.

technology is COOL, but we need to have the freedom to evolve or to stay who we are in any way or combination.

we must not force ourself on others. we must live and let live.

It seems to me that what will happen is a divide in society that has access to the singularity and those that get left behind. the technology will be so good that people will have the freedom and ability to pack up their bags and fly to a planet far away, terraform it/build a base full of hydroponic farming on some asteroid/space station far far away, basically set up their own little safe bunker country/home, their little island in space.

we won't compete because the technology and free communication of data and knowledge will continue to advance while we all spread out, eventually making it so that we don't even need to go and find resources anymore because we will be able to make our own.

when everyones needs are completely taken care of and technology is at a place where people don't really have to worry about anything anymore, (if they haven't already become transcended beings of pure consciousness through some amazing event after they became super intelligent awarenesses in computers before that first)

then the number one goal of humanity will basically be "be careful, self preservation and preservation of humanity and other living things, love they neighbor, make room for nature, and find out new ways to have fun"

so basically everyone is going to become kids again and be protectors and have fun, its going to essentially be technological innocence and freedom.

we will stop bad things from happening whenever we can (without being controlling nazi's about everything since we have learned better by now! HAVEN'T WE!!!? YES!) and just run around having fun and playing space tag and space hide and go seek. eating cookies and pizza but somehow not getting fat because technology.

maybe big G in the sky will smile upon us.

It would be safe for people to give up their anonymity if they could trust that those in power would handle the information responsibly, but there's no sign of that responsibility. The USA already locks people up in such huge numbers for doing relatively harmless drugs. What are they going to do to all the people of religions, sexuality, or political beliefs they don't approve of?
