The creaminess of the.. cream is supposed to compliment the creaminess of the pie. It doesn't mask the flavor of the pie, unless you're eating a tub of cool whip with your pie.

It's supposed to have nutmeg already in the pie. If you want more nutmeg, just add more in when you bake it.

It's a lot more intense and fresher if you grate it immediately before eating
