Where have my fellow /pilot/s been in their travels? Any interesting stories and adventures?

I've flown across the prairies and I must say there is nothing more satisfying than knowing exactly where you are despite being in such a monotonous landscape. Those map-makers do good work.

Ok I feel dumb, but in that picture you have OP you can see almost gridlines across the ground like they're neat little squares. I see these every time I fly on commercial airliners and always wondered what they were. (used to think they were crop circle type things when I was a kid.)
What are they, how are they made, are they naturally occurring? HOW ARE THEY SO NEAT.

They are just edges of farmers fields. Sometimes there are roads between fields, sometimes different people own the fields, sometimes they are different crops in different fields. Entirely man made.

This board gets barely a post every few days and someone replies for me as I'm typing, go figure.

I'll add that they're a nightmare to navigate on the ground. You really need to count the intersections or else find yourself lost.

Farmers gotta find something to keep them busy, you'd be amazed how much pride is put into keeping fields neat.

Also, upside down rainbows are the coolest
