/pk/ - Pokémon

I can't be bothered with competitive Pokemon anymore as a whole. Hidden abilities have kind of screwed over the whole meta, and I don't even find it worthwhile to train anything anymore. To really combat a number of the more used abilities, you really have to either waste a lot of potential on your team for counters or go all out yourself and make the game into rock-paper-scissors. Protean is no different in this case. As soon as I knew about that ability, I abandoned higher level of play. Come to think of it, I really don't play too much Pokemon anymore anyway. Not sure what I'm doing here.

Smogon frog is just too damn versatile since ORAS tutors were released. Think blissey can wall it? Low kick. Think Sylveon and Clefable will stop it? Gunk shot. The aforesaid moves eliminate all of greniggers potential counters. The only thing that could maybe switch into it is porygon2, and that's a big maybe. Moreover, porygon2 isn't really OU viable and is very weak to knock off spam.

To conclude, frognigger is broken, to ubers it goes! It'll drive another nail into Xerneas' coffin.

I don't know why people think that when a lot of Smogonfags use something because it's very good that means it's immune to being banned.

Other than that, the threat of me letting the board get deleted has been over for a while, I just haven't been updating and such. I know promotion is bad, but I don't think anyone is doing anything anymore, including me. I may pick up again later, but for now I'm still laying off the extreme stuff.

I saw a few modeling threads up on /vp/ recently. I don't know if it was temporary, or it's gonna be allowed there again, but if it is, those who want the NSFW content can be directed here. It's small, but good advertisement to serve the purpose of the board.

Other than that, I've got nothing. The board may be slow, but I think we'll just take things as they go. I don't think we have our fate in sight.

So….should we start working on a board-tan?
Or should that come later, when the board is more popular?

As a newcomer, I have some questions for you :

- IIRC , Goodrafag seems to have been banned at sight thus far. Is he coming back regularly or did he stayed at either /vp/ or /poke/ ?
- Isn't it possible to merge with /poke/, or are the conflicts between the two communities too important to even think about it ?
- What's your point about giveaways ? I've done some of them during the past (including the infamous male shiny Goodra one), and I don't mind making some if it's allowed here

1) Idk what's going on with Goodrafag, I haven't been on /vp/ more than a handful of times for a few minutes in the last month. I get bored there when it isn't hype season since idgas about competitive. He doesn't come here, that is, if Goodrafag isn't just Bui himself just using an alter ego with a clever ruse, which is my speculative personal opinion on the matter. 2) /pk/ and /poke/ are almost identical, besides the fact /poke/ wants to restrict and censor porn and shit like that. It's explained in the sticky. My idea of total freedom conflicts with their censorship, and both sides can't come to an agreement on it. I've tried months ago. I laugh at them, they a laugh at me. The dominant board is really reflected on what is more active and promoted, but I barely give two shits these days about this place. But it's still here so you anons can do what you please.

3) Not sure what you're asking about giveaways. If you wanna do some here, go for it. Do whatever the fuck you want as long as it isn't spamming shit.

Goodrafag was just spamming /vp/ with threads about how Goodra should be female only and how male Goodras and their trainers should be euthanazied. People laughed the first time, ignored him the second time, started to complain the tenth time and spamming for something to be done the hundredth time. As an answer, a distribution of a shiny male Goodra was created, and had a large success until the one who created said distribution got tired of being accused of being Goodrafag (even after a /vp/ mod confirmed they were two different people) and basically told /vp/ to go fuck themselves. But the giveaways were made popular by the Goodra one (who reached more than 100 boxes of shiny male Goodra named "male only" being given), people saw that as huge circlejerking and tried to confine that into megathreads in order to "not have to hide such threads that take too much place", and there was conflict about it (which leads to my third question)

That being said, while there were one or two people thinking it was Bui, mods came again to confirm they were two different people. But yeah, Bui is clearly much worse than Goodrafag.

About the split, I understand it better now, and yeah, I think it's upon us to choose which side we prefer. Still, thanks for the answers.

Might work against low rating users on rated battles, but as soon as you get higher, most users try to get rid of Blissey asap and know how to counter it.

As much as we all hate captchas, we all agreed it is needed after Bui's spambot flooded all 15 pages with cock threads back in November. As soon as I remove the captchas, the board will be nuked by Bui, ultimately turning people away more than captchas would in the first place.

Sorry, I don't like captchas either, but it's definitely needed.

If you read the sticky to know of the "no rules", I'd figure you would've also seen that there are a few minor regulations to keep it from becoming a shithole; one "rule" being no spamming. I'd delete spam no matter what the content. Also, he chose to spam here because he found out I was owner, and he knew me from /vp/ when I was shitposting to irritate the Hotpocketers.

I didn't make the captchas. Hotwheels implemented the same captcha option for all boards on the site. It's this or nothing, and I have no choice over how the captcha preforms.

It may be somewhat annoying, but that's an extreme claim. I, or someone else, can take it up with Hotwheels and see if he can increase the captcha expiration time. Besides, removing it is just what Bui wants me to do. I'd even expect him to ruse me in anyway he can to have fun again by flooding the board.

Please tell me what you can do that I can't. I have a VPN to advertise, I just chose to lay off for a while. I don't care too much about the board anymore, but I do care about the users. I'm just going with time as it goes, and see how things turn out. If with time, the board grows and stuff, I'll keep it around. I'm even occasionally thinking of a new owner to give the board to, so I can go free. But I surely am not giving to any chan user due to trust issues. I want someone I know who will carry on the ideals of the board, otherwise, it really has no need to exist with /poke/ already here. Either I transfer the board, or I send the users to /poke/. But like I said, right now I'm just going with time to see how things turn out. I don't have any other plan as a set goal yet.

Partially true, but I did say that on /vp/ a few days ago. I guess you can say I'm sort of bipolar on the subject. Sometimes I'm all "fuck it", sometimes I'm like "whatever, it's no big deal". If I ever do plan to give it up, and I'm sure I'm serious, I'll be sure it'll be publicly posted and everyone will know. As of now, I'm just going with the flow. Seeing how shit turns out.

thinking about this more, possible doubles strategy could work with facade if it's partnered with a WoW'er. of course that ends up crippling everything but facade.. and i guess you could also thunderwave it but the slowness kinda messes things up. and also even though it does hit hard on the opponents, you may need to run a ghost type partner to avoid damage right??

and nvm, ghost type won't avoid damage as it becomes a flying type attack. so either protecting or partner with massive flying resistance would be the only viable partners unless the goal is to not care about killing your own team in the process

Facade works amazingly well with a pokemon that has the Guts ability, because not only does it buff damage once they have a status, it also negates the attack reduction from burn. I used to run a Facade sweeping guts conkledurr on a trick room team. it raped faces.
