I could understand this if they stuck to criticizing fascists, but the antifa are also big into anti-capitalism and they liek feminism. To quote the Antifa Mannheim:
>Neben der Naziszene richtet sich unser Kampf auch gegen weitere Formen des Rassismus, Antisemitismus und Sexismus sowie gegen die herrschende kapitalistische Gesellschaftsordnung.
A rough translation would be:
>Aside from the nazi-scene, we also fight against other forms of racism, antisemitism, sexism as well as the prevalent capitalist social order.

The antifa are not united by a hatred of fascism, they are united by a shared, broader, but still painfully undefined leftist ideology. They don't seem to be quite marxist, but neither do they seem to be anarchist, despite the fact that - again - these two ideologies are mutually exclusive. The one is authoritarian, the other is, well, anarchist. One is collectivist, the other is (or tends to be) individualist. How, then, can they get along so well?

I'm not ruling out that these people exist. Far from it. I just doubt they are the majority of socialists.
