never ever add IDs or forced flags, this kills the board

do make a meta board so we can discuss shilling, it may seem stupid now but it will be relevant later

>never ever add IDs or forced flags,

IDs killed pol and forced flags will kill bane (i cannot be bothered to use flags). These things are already optional- in the case of flags, you can add them here and in the case of ids you can always namefag in your thread

>meta

I guess it could be added. I'll think about it

My only request is that you never, ever ban people for differing opinions. Luckily it seems like that's what you want too!

Ideally, just stick to having the only rule be the global rule, even if a vocal minority like >>201 pressures you to ban things (rulecucks will always try to get mods to bend to their will).

Things are going well so far though, I'm glad we have a non-rulecuck politics board. I might advertise this place around too if I get the time. Thanks for putting in the effort to advertise/maintain the board, new BO.

 No.408

>>396

Anytime. I think that to avoid board wiping scenarios that captchas might be needed, but only when they are needed and not before. In other words, unless it happens captchas are not going to be put in as a preventative measure

 No.421

Enabled 'Allow posters to see when a thread is bumplocked'. I maintain that the best policy for dealing with board nukings is captcha, both of posts and of threads. As nukings hasn't happened yet, it's not enabled. So, i won't use the bumplock feature

Pray for the best anons. This could get fishy

 No.422

Question to people: how do you think /pn/ should defend itself from massive raid attacks?

 No.423

File: 1431601392181.jpg (14.18 KB, 480x360, 4:3, 1413312331989.jpg)

>>408

>>421

>>422

One thing you could do is, just change the max number of threads per hour to 25 until the raid stops, and then change it back.

In the case of massive botspam, another thing you could consider is enabling captchas until it stops, and then disabling them again later on. Keeping captcha on 100% of the time wouldn't really be necessary, even /pol/ itself has only had one or two board-wiping tier raids in its existence.

personally I don't think it is necessary or wise to mess with bumplocking. all things considered raids are pretty rare (especially if a board isn't in the top 10 or so) and even if one ever happens it really isn't the end of the world. Always remember the original vision of the board.

 No.459

I notice a lot of people include links in their OPs, which is great, but what about requiring archiving for certain links that we know work with archive.today (i,e HuffPo, Kotaku, Fox…)?

 No.462

>>459

True. I'm not very familiar with how to do the archiving though-is there some easy way to do that?

 No.495

>>459

Nah, dont require it. Have the community police itself and encourage each other to archive.today things though.

 No.496

>>495

>>459

Although i would prefer it if the community would archive things, i've no qualms if people don't. I think encouragement of the practice is a good idea

things to substract:

ANY censorship except strictly stuff illegal in the relevant country(ies) in order to keep the whole site out of trouble.

Brennan defines what's illegal (and substantiates it with law texts).

Your job as board owner is to do NOTHING more than deleting what brennan considers deleteworthy.

Anything else and you fail.

Please find enclosed a cool, new banner and cool, new eagle resource for your board.

Hope to see both used for many years to come,

I enclose two pictures for perusement: One is a delightful rendition, the other captures the moment during the renditioning of the delightful rendition that I stepped back and said to myself: "What the hell am I doing?".

Many heils,

Gosturp.

Thank you again for putting so much effort into /pn/, board owner!

have a UIP. Unfortunately my experience at /pol/ has kind of turned me off of politics for a while, but I really like the idea of this board and will probably start posting here in time.
