Pope Francis has vetoed a plan to set up an investment fund for the Vatican bank, the Institute for Religious Works (IOR), reports Andrea Tornielli of La Stampa. The investment fund, which would have been based in Luxembourg, was proposed by Jean-Baptiste de Franssu, the IOR president, and approved by the bank’s board. But the council of cardinals that supervises the IOR questioned the idea, and sent it to the Pope for a final decision, Tornielli writes.

Pope Francis has insisted that the IOR should not be managed like an ordinary investment bank. The establishment of an investment fund in another country would have required complex legal and financial planning that the Pope apparently considered incompatible with the transparency and simplicity that he has sought for the Vatican bank.

Positively patriarchal!

Why does some old white dude sitting on a golden throne decide what happens with MY bank!?

>based in Luxembourg

What's going on with Luxembourg? I swear, if /pol/ was more Europe than America, Luxembourg would be considered a kike central like New York.

Also, I've noticed that individuals with ties with Jesuits have ridiculously much power in the EU (not just Juncker from Luxembourg who was already involved in banking frauds, also Rompuy, Barroso, Rajoy, Monti, Draghi). How does that tie in, considering that the Pope himself is a Jesuit and is apparently pushing Jesuits up? (for example I know that here in Slovenia he named a Jesuit, Alojzij Cvikl, as the Archbishop of Maribor, to clean up the debt the Church has in Slovenia)

This video will explain it all. It was made in 2006, an ancient time-more simpler some would say, but one with its own set of values

The trick is in the timing

i don't why tbh- maybe the pope just gets the people he's familiar with, perhaps he's in touch with the metaphysical, that's why there's so many jesuits everywhere. Then again, maybe it's because they too like to promote their friends-wouldn't you?

In my personal experience with Jesuits, they are both the cancer as well as some of the better educated order of priests.

I have come across a lot of Jesuits who are basically marxists ins disguise as well as some jesuit priests who are actually interesting to talk to as opposed to your run of the mill padre who typically is a bore. I avoid the marxists among them like plague, the others are always good for a conversation or two
