A few years passed, and now someone else was living in the room. I'm just doing my business, sweeping the floors, and then I see this little boy come up the stairs and over to 302. He couldn't have been older than six or seven. He starts tapping on the door, and standing on his tiptoes to look through the peephole, and he keeps saying "mommy, wake up, let me in, I want to see you, why won't you wake up mom, let me in." It was the saddest thin'. The tenet was able to scare the kid off, but the very next day the boy comes back, and he does the same thing. "Where's my mother, let me in, I need to see my mother." Every single day, that little boy tried getting into the room. Drove the others crazy, but I didn't have the heart to make him leave.

The boy just kept comin'. Every single day. His routine was always the same. He'd come up the stairs, go to 302, knock on the door, and ask for his mom. The other tenants started to yell at the kid whenever they saw him, especially Richard Braintree, a man who used to live here. Poor kid would run off whenever he saw them. Eventually he stopped coming all the time, but every once in awhile I'd see him standing in the hall, just watching the door. Even as a young man.

More time's gone by, and now Joseph's living in the room. Said he wanted to be in here to write about things for his next article or book or somthin'. Said it was about cults or that serial killer scare a few years back, I don't know. Point is, I haven't seen him come out of 302 in awhile, so I knock on the door to check on him. No answer. I try opening the door with my key, but it won't budge. Days go by, and I'm gettin' worried. I don't want to call the police or nothin', but the door won't open no matter I do, and he ain't comin' out. Then one day, it just creeks open. He's nowhere to be found. Not a single trace. At this point I finally get that somethin's wrong, and the police are called. You probably know the rest though. They couldn't find nothin', it becomes a big media thing, and then everyone forgets. A year or so goes by, and despite the whole scandal about the room, I'm able to rent it to another guy, a Henry Townshend. Quiet man, photographer. Didn't talk to his neighbors, never said much about himself, just worried about his own business. The type of guy who can just blend into the background when ya give it enough time. One day though, I finally notice that I haven't seen him in awhile. Eileen, another young girl living in the next room over, notices too. We try whatever we can to get him out, knocking, using the keys, leaving letters under the door, sometimes just slamming on it, but he won't speak up and the door won't move. Next thing I know, Eileen goes missing too. Just as I was gonna call the police though, they show up. Eileen looks terrible, like someone really roughed her up. Eileen goes to the hospital, and Henry talks to me about leaving the apartment. He won't say anything, Eileen won't say anything, and I just have to let 'em go.
