Hey, /fighters/ friend, here.
Let's try a cross-board thread about Pokken Tournament.

And I don't know why the thread can't be linked on the OP.

Very little info was given beyond "Tekken-style arcade game that may later come to console", so all we can do is speculate. Even so, what I'm hoping for:
-a roster of about 50-70 fighters. There's definitely enough mons for that size
-fair distribution between gens, have something for everyone
-mons of all types, not just Fighting-type
-mons of different body types; get some quadrupeds, flyers, snakes, VARIATION
-since some mons are probably too big to fight if it's kept to scale (eg. Gyarados), maybe a story mode where they can appear as bosses. Also good for legendary battles
-amiibo functionality, should be a given
Like I already said, at this point we know very little. But I'm cautiously excited. Pokken could bring a whole new way of fighting to Pokémon. No more set-up, no restriction to only four moves. Battle records would be a lot more dependent on player skill & reflexes than their ability to predict the opponent's move. It'd be a breath of fresh air.

50-70? try again with 20. smash bros potentially has hundreds of characters too. but every fighter is a lot of work so they'll keep the number small.
its mostly going to be humanlikes

Uh, yeah. Depends the fighter, m8. Namco likes the Arena fight genre, because it's easy to make characters. Especially to make a clonefest like Naruto.

modeling, animating, framing attacks, hit boxes and balance is still expensive and every additional character makes the whole thing less profitable and updates more of a chore. thats why new series usually start with small rosters.
i personally wouldn't expect more than 30 chars by the time this gets ported to the home consoles. and even then, it might be dlc chars
